introduce the best practices for using Google Classroom to engage your children during
Distance Learning.
Getting Started
1. Go to : www.google.com2. Click on ,’Sign In”
3. Type your DISTRICT email
4. Type in your password.
5. Click on the nine dots then click on the Classroom icon.

If you need your password reset email [email protected] and include the following● Child’s First & Last Name● The School They Attend● Whether they need a reset or an new password

A. Accept an invitation from your teacher.
* Go to : www.classroom.google.com
* Click on the ‘Join” button.
How To Join A Google Classroom
(If you have NOT joined a classroom yet:) B. Join the class with a Class Code
* Go to: www.classroom.google.com * Click on the ‘+’ sign, then click ‘Join Class’
*Type the class code the teacher provided.

C. Via Google Email. Teacher will send an ‘invite’ to your email.
Click the ‘Join’ tab and you will be brought directly to the classroom.
Navigating The Tabs
The Stream Tab
The Stream is the social hub of Google Classroom. This is where announcements can be made by the teacher. Students, if enabled, are able to share resources or ask questions. Any assignments created on the Classwork tab are announced on the Stream.
To the left of the announcements in the stream you can see due dates for upcoming assignments
The Classwork Tab
This tab contains assignments, questions and resources for students to view and complete. This is where you child will turn their work in as well.
The People Tab
Contains a list of all of the students and teachers in the class.
Completing an Assignment
1. Go to the Classwork Tab Click on the assignment.2.The teacher has attached a document. 3. Click on the attached document.4. Student can type DIRECTLY on the document.

When the student has completed the assignment, click on ‘Turn In.’
The student is asked again to turn it in. Click on ‘Turn In”.

1.Your work will now be listed as, ’Turned in’.
2.If you need to add something else, Click ‘Unsubmit’
3. This will appear on your screen. Click,’Unsubmit’

Click on ‘+ Add or Create”

There will be a list of ways you canAdd or create artifacts.
Adding ArtifactsFrom Google Drive
Recent- Items that you have just worked on in your drive.Upload- Items on your computer that you can upload.My Drive- Folders in your driveStarred- Material the owner has marked as frequently used or important.* Double click on the artifact you need to add and click on the blue“Add”
Adding a Link
1. Copy a link you would like to use.
2. Click on the Link icon3. Paste the URL under the
work Link and press ‘add link’
Adding a File
1. Click File2. Click or drag the File you
want to upload.3. Click upload.
Create New
Clicking on any of these icons will allow the student to create a new artifact.Doc- Word documentSlides-powerpoint presentationSheets-excel spreadsheetsDrawings-Create a picture
Seeing Your Grades in Google Classroom
Click the Classwork Tab, then Click View Your Work*If your teacher shares your overall grade, you can see it on the your work page. Not all teachers share overall grades, so you might not see one.
