Caño Negro By Boat

Pick up times: 7:30 am │Approximately Duration : 8 Hours Kids Ages : 0 to 12 The Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge is considered one of the richest sites on the continent for the observation of birds. Beside an abundance of birds, Caño Negro is also refuge to many other animals like: sloths, three types of monkeys, caimans, lizards, bats, and anative flora of the wet land. Our tour to this beautiful región leaves from La Fortuna and will drive for one and a half hours to Los Chiles, which is a rustic town that is near the border of Nicaragua. Here we take the boat down the Río Frío for about three hours. During the bus ride our guide will teach you about the crops in the region and the Costa Rican culture.

Twilight Safari Pick up times: 14:00 │Approximately Duration : 4 Hours Kids Ages : 4 to 11 The trip begins with a twenty minute drive from Fortuna to the river. Upon arrival, each guest will have the opportunity to fill up their water bottles with bottled water, use the restrooms and enjoy the gardens of this farm on the river. You will get on your rafts at dusk as the sun is just starting to fall and en-joy the mystic way the light disappears from the sky, leaving you in the peaceful darkness of the jungle. On your float you will have a chance to see (or hear): the Common Opos-sum, Common Gray Four-Opossum, Brown-throated three Toed Sloth, Hoffmann’s Two-Toed Sloth, Long-Nosed Bat, mantled Howler Monkey, Yellow-crowned Night-Heron, Spectacled Owl and lastly, the American crocodile. You'll see plenty of baby crocoodiles, no longer than a foot. Your guide will focus on the animal and plant behavioral transitions from day to night. After enjoying this floats' intriging nature we'll visit "The Hidalgo Family House", for a taste of a traditional Costa Rican snack and a touch of our culture.

Pick up times: 05:30 / 14:30 │Approximately Duration : 4.5 Hours Kids Ages : 4 to 12 You will be taken out on a comfortable boat for 'catch and release' fish-ing of Rainbow Bass, have a relaxing day out on the water and enjoy beautiful views. The Arenal Lake is a large man-made lake, surrounded by beautiful, lush vegetation and the towering Arenal Volcano. All necessary equipment is provided as well as an expert local guide that is familiar with the favorite feeding areas of the fish. Refreshments including beer, sodas, water and orange juice are also included, as well as cookies and sandwiches. Fishers have the option of going out for a full day or a half day. Pick up times: 16:25 │Approximately Duration : 2.5 Hours Kids Ages : 4 to 12 Enjoy a pleasant sunset on Arenal Lake and breath taking views of the Arenal Volcano. Arenal Lake is place that counts with many natu-ral attractions and from which you can watch the Arenal Volcano. Due to the beauty of the landscapes and lush vegetation, Arenal La-ke surrounding areas have become an excellent spot for boat rides. In this two hours boat ride you will have the opportunity to see a hu-ge variety of birds such as “Flycatchers”, “Kingfishers”, “Anhinga” and mammals such as monkeys, coatis and sloths. Pick up times: 07:50 / 14:50 │Approximately Duration : 3 Hours Kids Ages : 4 to 12 The Arenal Volcano tour starts with a drive to the western side of the volcano, which is the one that has been mostly affected by the initial activity since 1968. Once there, you will embark on a very informative hike on the Park trail´s. We can choose one of the trails depending on the client´s preference. We have Las Cola-das trail which traverses the rainforest and crosses over a large lava flow from 1992 where we can observe all the impact of the past eruptions, or Los Tucanes trail which goes mostly thru the recovered forest of the past activity and where we can see more wildlife. It is possible to observe a great variety of plants, wildlife and magnificent lava rock formations. Once on the top of the lava flow you will have a beautiful view of the Arenal Lake. The hike ends up at a view point, where if the weather allows you will see the volcano very close and feel like it is possible to reach with your hands. You will be able to feel some rocks rolling down, some seismic activity and some smoke from the main crater. During the tour, our experienced guides will provide interesting and educational information regarding the history of the majes-tic mountain and the Arenal Volcano National Park.

The trail itself is 1.9 miles (3.1 km) in length, crossing nine fixed bridges and 6 suspension bridges and is laid out at a maximum grade of 7 degrees so that any-one can walk it.

Pick up times: 07:50 │Approximately Duration : 7.5 Hours Kids Ages : 10 to 12 We begin the journey transferring us from Nayara around the Arenal Volcano to get to the hotel "Observatory Lodge," there we start the hike toward the summit of Chato Hill through a very dense primary forest. When we arrived up we go to visit the lagoon on the top, where you can take photos and discover the surroundings. Then, we continue descending, always enclosed of a very dense for-est, where you could appreciate birds, plants, animals, insects and immense trees, as well enjoy the sensation of liberty having a beauti-ful views of the San Carlos Valley as well as of the Arenal Volcano. The end of the walk will be in La Fortuna Waterfall, where we will de-scend again in order to arrive on the dot base of it and enjoy a beauti-ful natural landscape that makes it very special. After a refreshing swim we will return to Nayara by car.

Considered as “a gift of the Gods”, the cacao tree was very important to the ancient cul-ture, it was not only used as a ceremonial drink, but its seeds were also used as currency because of its economic value, in many regions of Mesoamerica, including Costa Rica. In this 2-hour “hands on” program, you will have the opportunity to learn interesting aspects of cocoa and chocolate, from its origin and history, participating in all the production process, from the harvesting of the fruit, drying and grinding of the seed, also the developing of the tradition-al drink of our ancestors, and of course enjoying a high quality organic chocolate. Pick up times: 07:45 │Approximately Duration : 8.5 Hours Kids Ages : 8 to 12 We leave early in route to Rio Celeste (Light Blue River), located into the Tenorio Volcano National Park, near the montain range. There is a hike of 5 miles approximately waiting for us, through the tropical rain forest. We will arrive “Los Teñideros” of the Rio Celeste, the site where two streams of crystalline water come together and form the heavenly color blue that gives the river its name. We will continue our hike through the jungle to seek out the volcano’s furnace vents that expel gases of extreme high temperatures. On our decent we will get to see the spectacular Rio Celeste waterfall whose color makes it one of a kind! Our final reward is an exquisite lunch at the end of our journey.

The last of Cos-ta Rica's jaguars roam free under its canopies alongside 120 species of mammals, 440 species of birds and more than 700 species of but-terflies. Pocosol Station sits on the opposite side of the Children's Eternal Rainforest from San Gerardo Station close to Arenal and the town of La Tigra. This station also provides lodging and meals for guests look-ing to trek through its six miles of trails. Each of its trails takes guests to a different wonder hidden in the dense undergrowth of the wet, pre-montane rainforest; from gaseous thermal vents to waterfalls and la-

Once at the at the observation deck, you will be able to enjoy the most mag-nificent views of the volcano's south face for as long as you desire. From there, you will have two options for returning to the base. The first option is to ride back down the same way you came up, on the Sky Tram. On the ride you will be able to notice how the vegetation varies as the altitude changes once again. The second and more exciting op-tion is to zip your way to the bottom along a series of zip lines. The zip line descent is the best option for those seeking a rush of adrenaline. The tour includes 8 cables with distances up to 2460 feet and a maxi-mum height of 660 feet.
