General data
Product descriptionThe NBG pumps are single-stage centrifugal pumpswith axial suction port and radial discharge port.
Nominal duty points and main dimensions are inaccordance with ISO 2858 - EN 22858 (16 bar). Typesoutside of the official ISO-norm will be called "over-size". Dimensions can be differ from other supplier.
The pump is directly coupled with a totally enclosedfan-cooled standard motor with main dimensions to IECstandard.
The mechanical shaft seal has dimensions according toDIN 24960.
The back pull-out design enables removal and disman-tling of the motor and impeller without disturbance ofthe pump housing or pipework. Consequently even thelargest pumps can be serviced by a single person.

In air climate control systems, especially for residentialapplications, it is recommanded to adopt proper instal-lation measures (e.g. compensation joints on thedischarge side) to prevent transmission of hydraulicnoise to the building. Pumps with 4 pole motor offer lownoise operation, suitable to fit this requirement.
If a certain duty point is required, pumps with reducedimpeller diameter can be delivered on request.

Pumped liquidsLiquid temperature: –10°C to +140°C.
Clean, thin, non-aggressive, non-explosive liquidswithout any contents of solids or fibres and which do notattack the pump mechanically or chemically.
Maximum operating pressureUp to +120°C: 1.6 MPa (16 bar), (10 bar for DN 200).
According to ISO 2858 - EN 22858, the maximumrequired operating pressure is 1.6 MPa (16 bar).
Inlet pressureMinimum inlet pressure according to the NPSH curveplus a safety allowance of at least 0.5 m. The maximuminlet pressure is limited by the maximum operatingpressure.
Test pressureBefore delivery, the pumps have been tested at 1.5 xmaximum operating pressure: 2.5 MPa (25 bar).
Test Liquid: Cold water.
InstallationIf the pump has been installed with the terminal boxpointing downwards, turn the motor to the requiredposition.
The pump should never be installed with the motorpointing downwards.

Construction
Pump housing
Volute pump housing made of cast iron with axialsuction port and radial discharge port. Flange connec-tion dimensions are in accordance with EN 1092-2.
The bottom of the pump housing incorporates a drainplug.
The discharge port has a pressure gauge tapping.
Motor stool
The motor stool combines pump housing and motor isprovided with a manual air vent screw for the venting ofthe pump housing and the seal chamber. As sealbetween motor stool and pump housing, an O-ring isused.
Coupling guards are fitted in the centre part of themotor stool.
To remove the motor stool from the pump housing it isnecessary to lever between the pump housing and themotor stool.
The motor flange sizes are as follows:
• Sizes up to MMG 132 IM B5,according to IEC 60072.
• Size MMG 160 IM B35, according to IEC 60072.
Shaft
Stainless steel shaft of ø28 or ø38 mm.
The coupling end of the shaft is cylindrical and has twodrilled holes for the shaft pin of the coupling.
Impeller
The impeller is made of cast iron (bronze optional) andis a closed impeller with double-curved blades withsmooth surfaces. This ensures high efficiency.
All pumps are dynamically balanced and impellers arehydraulically balanced to compensate for axial thrust.
The direction of rotation of the impeller is clockwisewhen viewed from the motor fan.
If a certain duty point is required, pumps with reducedimpeller diameter can be delivered on request.
NBG
Shaft seal
Unbalanced mechanical shaft seal with dimensions inaccordance with DIN 24960. Seal faces of carbon/silicon carbide. The code of the standard version isBAQE.
The seal is not suitable for liquids containing abrasiveparticles as the carbon part will be worn down.
For shaft seals variants other than those specified in"Selection of pumps for various liquids" at page 7,contact Grundfos.
A brief liquid circulation during the start-up, by manuallyopening the air-vent screw in the motor stool, ensuresa perfect lubrication and cooling of the shaft seal.
Coupling
A cylindrical hollow steel coupling secured by twohexagon socket head screws.
Motor
The motor is a totally enclosed, fan-cooled standardmotor with main dimensions according to IEC and DINstandards. Grundfos MMG motors are used.
Electrical tolerances are in accordance with IEC 60038.
Mounting:
• Sizes up to MMG 132 IM B5,according to IEC 60 034-7.
• Size MMG 160 IM B35, according to IEC 60 034-7.
Enclosure class: IP 55.
Insulation class: F according to IEC 85.
Maximum ambient temperature: +40°C.
The motor must be connected to a motor starter inaccordance with local regulations.
Surface treatment
All stationary cast iron parts are dip-painted with water-based ether-epoxy no-lead painting. The thickness ofthe film is 25 Ìm ± 5 Ìm.
Finally the product is spray-painted with black water-based ether-epoxy no-lead painting. The thickness ofthe dry coating is 35 Ìm ± 5 Ìm.

Performance ranges
Curve conditionsThe following guide lines apply to the curves on thefollowing pages:
• The curve values have been tested at a water tem-perature of 20°C.
• The curves apply to the actual speed of the motortypes stated at 50 Hz / 60Hz.
• The conversion between head "H [m]" and pressure"p [kPa]" applies to water with a density of ��= 1000kg/m³.
In case of other densities than 1000 kg/m³ thedischarge pressure is proportional to the density.
When pumping liquids with a density higher than1000 kg/m³, motors with correspondingly higheroutputs must be used.
• The curves apply to a kinematic viscosity of � = 1mm²/s (1cSt).
Maximum kinematic viscosity without any new calcu-lation of motor size being necessary is 3 mm²/s.
• Tolerances according to ISO 2548, Annex B.
The bold curves state the recommended performancearea.
The pumps should not be used at minimum flowsbelow 0.1 x Q at an optimum efficiency because ofthe danger of overheating of the pump.
NPSH: The curves stated are average values foundunder the same conditions as the performance curves.
Liquid: Air-free water.
When dimensioning add a safety allowance of at least0.5 m.
v (m/s) indicates flow velocity in discharge port.

Accessories
ShimsDuring installation shims can be fitted under the motoror pump housing feet in order to compensate for dimen-sional differences between pump housing and motorframe sizes, thus enabling easy horizontal mounting ofthe pumps.
Product numbers refer to a set of two shims having thedimensions specified in the following table.
For shims higher than 20 mm, a set includes alsohexogan head bolts, washers and nuts.
