What is the S.T.E.M. Van? S.T.E.M. stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics – increasingly important fields for academic and professional success. BSA’s new S.T.E.M. initiative gives Scouts an opportunity to explore these skills and be recognized for their achievements. The S.T.E.M. Van supports this initiative as a mobile classroom designed to deliver fun, exciting, educational programs on these subjects. It contains a full A/V system, portable generator and enough supplies and equipment to conduct programs on everything from insect study to robotics to rocketry! Why does the DC Metro Area need the S.T.E.M. Van? S.T.E.M. is becoming an increasingly important skill set for young people entering the workforce. The S.T.E.M. Van helps ensure local youth have access to resources on these vital subjects beyond what their schools may be able to provide. Who made the S.T.E.M. Van possible? The S.T.E.M. Van is supported by the generosity of local businesses and sponsors. The major sponsors are: Where does the S.T.E.M. Van go? The S.T.E.M. Van will visit schools, county fairs, Scouting events and other community programs throughout the DC metro area. A large part of its mission is to provide supplementary S.T.E.M. programs to underfunded schools that cannot afford all the scientific equipment they need. When can I see the S.T.E.M. Van?
