GOD’S PLAN FOR GIVING

Our parish church is totally dependent upon your finan-cial support and generosity. Without your

generosity we as a parish church could not function. Unfortunately, it takes money and we must pay the bills like any other household. The only difference is

that we are much, much bigger. Please be generous with God’s given treasure

in supporting your parish church. Please consider tithing (5% of your income) if you have not done so in the past.

The Good Lord rewards you for your generosity and sacrifice.

Dear Parishioners!!

For 18 years, Bayonne Re-members, the September 11th Committee, has commemorat-ed the tragic events of Septem-

ber 11 with a great deal of prayer and respect for all those who died in the attacks of the World Trade Center, espe-cially those residents of Bayonne. Last year the event was

canceled because of Covid - 19.

This year, which is the 20th anniversary of the events of September 11, 2021, we will gather once again

at Harborview Park, under the Teardrop Monument on Saturday, September 11, at 7:00 PM, to commemorate

those events and remember those who died in 1993, and 2021.

Thank you for your willingness to pray with us.

Reflections for the week

HEAR ME, ALL OF YOU, AND UNDERSTAND

Jesus warns his wide audience that he will talk about difficult things: "Hear me, all of you, and understand.” Unchastity ‐ he explains ‐ is not a problem of the body, but of the heart. It is a problem of our "interior." Je-

sus invites us here to examine our hearts. "From within people, from their hearts, come evil thoughts, unchastity, theft, murder, ..." The long enumeration brings out three major impurities: anger, pride and prof-ligacy. It is so difficult to live with everything that is in our hearts, that believers have come up with a way of defending: religious practice. The Jews used purifications, obsessive cleanses, great celebrations, long pray-ers. We have Holy Water, candles, pilgrimages, rosary, meditation. Good things, even great, if … If every-thing comes out of a clean "interior." Jesus shows rather pessimism in the purity of the human heart. He ap-peals to everyone: "Hear me, all of you, and understand. Nothing that enters one from outside can defile that

person; but the things that come out from within are what defile.” Let us note the evangelical sense of the word "defile" here are all thoughts that hurt the love of one's neighbor. The great defile is anger. Jesus brings everything to one concern: is the source of our thoughts the pure water of love? Or is it constantly polluted by anger, pride and uncontrollable sensual desire? There is only one Christian purity: it is a great desire for love, manifested in concrete gestures of justice, generous help, cordiality. When this desire increases, when there are more and more acts of love in our lives, our hearts are purified and beautiful and true things flow

from them.

Refleksja na tydzień

SŁUCHAJCIE MNIE, WSZYSCY, I ZROZUMCIE

Jezus zachęca nas tutaj do zbadania swojego serca. „Z serca ludzkiego pochodzą złe myśli, nierząd, kradzieże, zabójstwa...”. Długie wyliczanie wydoby-wa trzy główne nieczystości: złość, pychę i rozwiązłość.

My mamy wodę święconą, medaliki, świece, pielgrzymki, różaniec, rozmyślania. Rzeczy dobre, nawet wspaniałe, o ile… O ile wszystko to wychodzi z czystego „wnętrza”.

wypły‐ wają z nich rzeczy piękne i prawdziwe.
