The third Annual CAP National AE Officer’s Course is at Pensacola Na-val Air Station Conference Center at Pensacola Florida on 24-27 June. This course is designed to prepare AEO’s to do their job. This course
will also be held in McMinnville, Ore-gon on 9-11 July and at Wright-
Patterson AFB, Ohio on 5-8 August. Contact LTC Bev Talbott for more

AIR FORCE ASSOCIATION GRANTS:
The Requirements and Selection Criteria for the Air Force Association Grants for the Civil Air Patrol are as follows:
• Units are eligible to apply for grants every third cycle (grant cycles listed below).
• Grants cannot exceed $250.00 per request.
• Grants must be used for aerospace educa-tion-related items/activities such as books, videotapes, aerospace-oriented field trips, and aerospace education days.
• Unit grants may NOT be used for uniforms, honor guard, or color guard activities nor may they be used for individual member flying in-struction.
• Grant recipients must file a follow-up report with HQ CAP/ED on how the AFA grant con-tributed to their AE program.
CAP units' grant cycle deadlines are June 30
and December 31. An application form can be downloaded below or requested from HQ CAP/ED. Completed applications should be faxed to HQ CAP/ED at (334) 953-6891 or mailed to HQ CAP/ED, 105 South Hansell St, Maxwell AFB, AL 36112-6332. North Central Region Public Affairs Academy
The NCR Public Affairs Academy will provide basic level training on the basic tasks of a squadron PAO: Planning for Success as a PAO Creating & Publishing Effective Press Releases Editing Informative & Entertaining Newsletters Developing Effective & Informative Squadron Websites Letting the community know w ho you are with Effective Community Outreach An entire day will be devoted to Basic Level Mission Information Officer MIO (MIO) Train-ing. MIO training will take the form of a simulated mission, learning & practicing the basic skills of an MIO under an experienced MIO. A mission number will be assigned & participants will be signed off on appropriate MIO tasks. The Academy will present ideas and best practices on the use of New Technology in Public Affairs Operations and discussions of the Leadership that CAP Public Affairs Officer can pro-vide to the organization at all levels. All training will be a combination of live & multi-media presentations as well as hands-on-practical training. The Academy will count as the 2 PAO Workshops required to earn the PAO Technician Rat-ing and these can be carried over for the Senior & Master Ratings. Cadet Offi-cers are also welcome to attend but cannot be signed off on any tasks. This academy is an “Air Force Assigned Mission” and working with wings to get a mission number assigned so your ground transportation to and from can be reimbursed. News, the official monthly publication of the
NCR, CAP should be submitted NLT the 10th of
each month. Articles/news releases as well as
photographs are welcome. Send to

braska Wing PAO for our publication in our own
Red Cloud News Magazine. Let’s get Nebraska
news out there as to our unit activities!!
NCR Public Affairs Leadership Academy: for
26-28 June scheduled right here at Camp Ash-
land. Apply online at http://www.ncrpao.org/
paoa.htm. Open to all Senior Members with pri-
ority given to members assigned as PAO at the
Squadron and Wing Level. Commanders and In-
cident Commanders are welcome. Cadet Offi-
cers can attend but cannot be signed off on any
tasks. All participants must have a General ES
Rating and bring your 101 card!
SLS/CLC COURSES are scheduled for 30
May at Camp Ashland. We have an in-
structor for the SLS! Get your applica-
tions (CAPF 17) into wing headquarters by
11 May or contact LTC Dennis Curtis at
[email protected]. The CLC applicants
will receive paperwork in the mail for com-
pletion prior to your attendance.
