Net iD Enterprise

Net iD PKI client

With Net iD Enterprise it is not only possible to log in using smart cards, it is also possible to have access to Internet-

based services that require electronic identification and signatures (PKI). Both EU directives and Swedish legislation are

pushing this development.

For example:

Send secure e-mail using for example Microsoft Outlook.

Sign documents and agreements.

Secure and send patient information within the health care services.

Send information between authorities and citizens.

Net iD Enterprise is optimal for organizations administrating their own CA (Certificate Authority) and wants the users to

use certificates stored on smart cards for secure authentication, for example:

Simple and safe login with smart card in domains, via VPN or towards a Microsoft Terminal Server/Citrix

XenApp-environment.

Logout by removing smart card and then logging in at another location, using the same smart card, and returning to

the same session to continue the work (WTS/Citrix Server).

License agreement

SecMaker's products are protected by international law and copyrights, and may only be used under the conditions given

below. You are obliged to accept the conditions of the license before you start to use the product. If you do not accept

the conditions of the license you are obliged to return the product to the supplier within a period of eight days and cancel

the purchase.

This license agreement is valid for all Net iD software, concerning media and possible electronic documentation, referred

to as program products below. You have the right to install and use one copy of the product on a personal computer. A

program product may be installed on a central server or similar storage device and be run from one or more workstations

providing that the requisite licenses have been obtained. A single license may not be divided between two or more com-

puters or installed on more than one computer at any one time.

You have the right to use the product in any possible way, as long as you are not breaking any law. SecMaker will not

guarantee any kind of suitability for a particular function and will not be responsible for how the product is used.

Installation, copying, downloading, having access to, or in any way using the program product is considered an ac-

ceptance of the conditions and therefore binds you to the conditions of the above license agreement. If you have any

Copyright and all other intellectual property rights and title to Net iD, new versions, maintenance releases and transla-

tions, modifications, enhancements and related documentation shall at all times belong to SecMaker AB. SecMaker AB

also retains all rights to any agreed changes to the software.

The user acknowledges that the software and documentation licensed by SecMaker or reseller hereunder are protected

by copyright. The user shall have no right to modify, reverse engineer, decompile or otherwise attempt to derive source

code from the software, nor permit others to do so.

The user agrees not to remove any copyright, trademark and other notices related to software and documentation.

SecMaker AB is a Swedish company registered in Sweden. SecMaker owns the full rights to sell and develop Net iD

software.

SecMaker AB holds no name or trademark law rights to the distinctive marks “SecMaker” or “Net iD” besides Sweden.

Against this background SecMaker disclaims all liability for the reseller’s use of the distinctive marks “SecMaker” and

“Net iD” and any claims that may be made against the reseller by third parties with reference to use of the aforemen-

tioned distinctive marks.

The reseller further undertakes not to apply for registration of the distinctive marks “SecMaker” or “Net iD” in any other

country or territory.

Service and support

The authentication market is increasingly complex. As the world around us is constantly changing, we want to be able to

offer you security despite changes in the product environment.

It requires broad technical experience and the availability of a high level of support to meet with customers’ zero-level

tolerance for downtime. SecMaker takes an active part in ensuring the success of our customers, and we aim to exceed

their expectations.

gration and telephone support for thousands of users. This experience gives us a unique understanding of what it takes

to run projects using PKI and smart cards.

SecMaker AB offers a variety of support programs. Please note that support comes with a fee and requires support con-

Installing Net iD Enterprise

System requirements

Operating systems:

Windows 7

Windows 8.1

Windows 10

macOS 10.12

Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (32/64 bit)

Ubuntu 17.04 (32/64 bit)

If installation packages for other Linux distributions are needed, please contact SecMaker.



Installation Windows

1. Run iidsetup.exe.

* Silent installation run iidsetup.exe /q via Command Prompt.

2. Select language.

3. Read and accept the license agreement.

4. Click Install.

5. The icon is now added to the taskbar. Right click and select Administration to manage your tokens.



Installation OS X/macOS

1. Run Net iD Setup to start installation.

2. Select language.

3. Read and accept the license agreement.

4. Click Install.

5. Enter password.



6. Click OK to finish installation and start Net iD Enterprise.



Installation Linux

1. Make sure you are logged on as Root (su). Alternatively, write sudo before the command (enter the root password).

2. Open a terminal window and execute the command:

sudo tar -xvf iidsetup.tar.gz

Replace iidsetup.tar.gz with the name of the file you received.

3. A folder called iidsetup is created. Execute the command:

cd iidsetup.

4. Execute the following command in iidsetup folder:

sudo ./install

* libwebkit is required for the graphical interface.



*libnss3-tools is required for installation of pkcs11 module in Firefox.

5. After successful installation information is presented on how to access the command utility and Administration

GUI.



Uninstall Windows

Via Control panel:

1. Open Control Panel – Programs and Features.

2. Select Net iD and click Uninstall/Change.

Via Command Prompt:

1. Start Command Prompt.

2. Navigate to Net iD installation folder (%PROGRAMFILES%\Net iD).

3. Run iid.exe –uninstall.

*Silent uninstall run iidxcmt.exe –uninstall –silent



Uninstall OS X/macOS

1. Open Terminal and navigate to /etc/iid/.

2. Run command:

sudo ./uninstall to uninstall the software and all components.

Uninstall Linux

1. Open Terminal and navigate to one of the folders iidsetup or /etc/iid/.

2. Run command:

sudo ./uninstall to uninstall the software and all components.



Net iD Administration

This section describes administration of tokens in Net iD Enterprise.

Start Administration

Windows

Start Net iD Administration via –icon in taskbar. Right click and select Administration. Or via Command Prompt,

"C:\Program Files\Net iD\iid.exe" -admin.

OS X/macOS

Start Net iD Administration via Applications – Utilities – Net iD or search Net iD using Spotlight.



Linux

Start Net iD Administration via Terminal: iidxapp. Or start Net iD via Dash.



Content

Select a smart card or soft token and Content to show information about your token.

Information about your smart card or soft token. Description, serial number, applet and card reader name.

A list of all certificates stored on token and usage.

Click button to show more information about the certificate, for example issuer info.



Change password

1. Select token and Change password if you want to change any of your current passwords.

2. Select the PIN you want to change.

3. Enter current password in Enter PIN.

4. Enter new password in New PIN.

5. Confirm new password in Confirm new PIN.

6. Click OK to complete the change.



Unlock password

1. Select token and Unlock password to set a new PIN using an unlock code if you have locked your PIN.

2. Select the PIN you want to unlock.

3. Enter the unlock code in Enter PIN. The unlock code has probably been given to you by the smart card issuer or

your organization when you got your smart card.

4. Enter the new password in New PIN.

5. Confirm the new password in Confirm new PIN.

6. Click OK to complete the unlocking.



Delete soft token

Select Delete to remove your soft token.

NOTE! After deleting the soft token will not be able to be used for authentication, signing or decryption of any infor-

mation.



Language

Click on active language, for example US at the bottom right corner in Administration to change language in Net iD.

Tracing

Activate trace to create a log file in Net iD.

Tracing are normally only used at troubleshooting when a problem has occurred that needs to be reported to SecMaker

support.

Click to open the log file.

Deactivate trace after log file has been created and saved.



About

Click About at the bottom left corner in Administration to view information about software.
