new bus loop at the North Building and expanded parking lot. The new traffic pattern will improve the safety and efficiency of bus, staff, and student traffic on the campus. The first layer of asphalt was poured on Monday of this week. The final asphalt topcoat on the campus will not be put down

After months of prep work, paving commenced on the new bus loop and expanded parking at the Satellite Campus.

...Continued From Page 1until summer 2021 since the South Building on the campus will be an active construction site throughout the whole 2020-2021 school year. Once construction vehicles are done on the campus, the final coat will be paved.

In the planning phase, CVES worked collaboratively with Clinton County on the two new driveways connecting to Route 190. As of today, we have received County approval for both driveways, as we received the permit for the satellite campus this week. At the Plattsburgh main campus, the paving of the new driveway began in May. This week, line stripers took advantage of the clear-weather-days to skillfully spray the new line striping on the driveway. They also completed the new striping throughout the main parking lot including parking spaces, handicap markings, traffic arrows, and crosswalks.

A project to replace the sloped corrugated roof over the WAF building resumes this week and is expected to be finished before school starts with some finish working continuing into September. The first half of the roof replacement was to re-roof

the main campus building that took place from May to July of this summer. This week, crews began installing the metal fascia around the side of the roof. The color green was selected by a CVES color committee to match the new paint that was done in coordination with our O&M team to bring life to our facilities. When you are on the campus next, remember to look up to see this nice finish and realize the capital project has addressed the widespread roof leaks that staff and students have dealt with over the years.

With the new school year approaching, staff and students can expect to see the following upgrades ranging from new flooring and bathrooms to improved safety conditions throughout the building. One safety improvement worth noting is the new secured entry vestibules being constructed at the Plattsburgh main campus, Mineville campus and satellite campus. With staff returning next week and students the following, it is critical that all contractors are focused on projects that need to be completed so we can open our facilities on track. The new main entrance doors for the WAF building arrived this week, and

the installation will follow next week. Also, at WAF, the new main office’s windows were installed this week. Crews quickly began installing the new interior glass windows in the secure entry vestibules. For items that have been held up in delivery to our campus, we are working with contractors for temporary material to be installed. This includes temporary lighting, doors, and fixtures. The Mineville playground equipment installation is nearing completion and is on track to be ready for the start of school.

As the summer ends, the CVES construction team, Schoolhouse Construction, Tetra Tech and contractor’s site superintendents are holding regular special meetings to ensure progress is on track to allow for school to open. As our 10-month staff prepares to return to work next week, we ask for your patience and understanding as we will still be under active construction through the Labor Day weekend. We would like to recognize the extraordinary efforts of our O&M staff, under the direction of Director Jerry Brooks, for daily coordination with the contractors and working longer shifts to get rooms ready for our staff and students.
