The much-awaited summer break is back and it’s time to enjoy many exciting things. As we all know we are
passing through a tough time with this pandemic and are homebound. Apart from what you have already planned
for your children, let’s also engage them in enjoyable activities that will teach them to shoulder responsibility and
help enhance their creativity and expression. Each task is carefully planned in order to make it student friendly and
interesting. All the tasks are related to the topics covered in April in online classes. This is an effort to reinforce
the concepts and make learning an enjoyable experience.
Be Environment friendly!… As you know, World Environment day is celebrated on the 5th of June every year
and saving environment has become the need of the hour. Each one, plant one! With the belief that small hands can
change the world, help your child plant a sapling in a small pot and let your child nurture it.
Stay Fit and Stay Healthy…
Learn a few yoga asanas and practice them every day, so that
we remain fit and healthy..
Link each asana learnt to the benefit it has on different parts of our body.

1. Holiday homework should be done under parental guidance and not by the parents. The child must do it in
his/her own handwriting.
2. Nurture the child’s interest – be it art, music, dance or anything else. Let him/her pursue a hobby of his/her

What is role of a vaccine in eradicating/ controlling diseases? On an A4 size sheet, draw a cartoon strip to show

Make a poster encouraging people to get vaccinated with against Covid -19 with some catchy slogan on an A3
sheet. / A3 I (The poster can be either in English or Hindi.)
Collect the information of top 5 states which are leading in the vaccination drive till 31st May, 2021 indicating the
number of people vaccinated with 1st dose. Represent this data in the form of a Bar graph determining the
percentage of population vaccinated with single shot in top 5 states of India. For example: A bar graph depicting
Covid Cases in some states has been shown.

What’s for Lunch?
“What’s for lunch?” The question came up every day, but Seema had no idea today. She always
got something ready for her children, but it was a challenge. Kids got bored with some things, resisted
trying new things, and occasionally just demanded to eat junk food. It was a daily challenge.
Some days, she had little or no time, so she just prepared something frozen. This might be
cheese patty sandwiches on toasted rolls. A salad or yogurt was a good side for that. Frozen pizza and
momos were always a hit with the kids. Chicken nuggets and frozen French fries went down easily,
too. Still, they were full of salt and fat, and had very little in the way of vitamins and minerals.
Sandwiches with a soup were pretty easy. She could sneak vegetables between the bread and
some into the soup as well. Canned soups were horribly salty, though. She made some on her own, but
that could be time-consuming. Grilled fish with tomato soup was always a hit. Again, it was lacking in
vegetables.
She made giant chef salads with lots of veggies, and the kids
ate them well enough. She would put hard- boiled eggs, cheese,
sunflower seeds, olives, and all kinds of goodies in them to make
them a more well-rounded meal. Unfortunately, they liked too much
dressing on their salads, ruining a healthy meal with lots of
unnecessary fat.
Another option was a baked potato bar. She would make the potatoes, and they would load up
on broccoli, cheese, butter, garlic, chives, and just about anything they wanted to go on top. She could
get away with this now and then, but they got bored with them unless they were drenched in dressing.
Seema sighed as she stared at the cabinets and fridge again, trying to figure out
what today’s meal would be. She walked off into the den and made up a dart game
instead. Kids would throw rubber darts at a poster with options, and she would make
whatever target they hit. Unhealthy options were much smaller targets. She would also
start portioning out the sauces to limit their usage. She smiled to herself, wondering why
she didn’t come up with this earlier.
Now, finally, she wouldn’t have to worry about making lunches!

Take a peek inside a seed
1) Germinate 4-5 different seeds ( can be of black chana/ rajma/ moong
dal/groundnut/fenugreek or any other easily available seed) by keeping on
moist cotton .
2) Split open a germinating seed. Draw its different parts below.
