The KUDA Paper Cutting System is built to address today’s new high expectation in performance and dependability both in printshops and bindery environments alike. Featuring highspeed precision, the KUDA line is the new generation of smart paper cutters boasting a winning combination of advanced technology, heavy-duty construction and ease of operation.

Designed from the ground up using the most advanced components from around the world, K-North, Inc. has developed the KUDA to outperform its competitors both in operator safety as well as performance. The KUDA CL is feature packed with many extras either unavailable or optional with other machines.

Maximum speed of 45 cycles per minute with cutting accuracy of 1/100 mm, super fast backgauge speed, programmable clamp pressure, and a large 15-in TFT Touch Screen are standard specifications on the KUDA CL model. Ball screw technology, fully guarded slotless rear table, chromed table surface and extra large cast iron side tables highlight therugged construction for greater operator safety and longevity of service.

ERGONOMIC DISPLAY TECHNOLOGY KUDA supplies a 15” LCD TFT Touch Screen display. A variety of menus including cutting, maintenance, knife changing, remote diagnosis* as well as clamp pressure on Kuda CL can be utilized. The US built computer includes a USBport for easy up-loading and down-loading of data, with unlimited memory accessible through the USB port.

KUDA ACCURACY With backgauge speeds of a phenomenal 11 ¾” per second (30 cm/sec), one expects total constant accuracy. The KUDA accomplishes this using two hardened and ground precision linear guideways and “Ball Screw” technology in place of the more traditional lead screw and nut. Owing to almost zero backlash the ball screw provides accuracy of 1/100th mm for long life. The Ball Screw design incorporates a precision ground screw encircled with ball bearings which is constantly taking up any variance due to forward and backward motion of the backgauge. The backgauge glides on top of the bed using the guideways and not the table itself for support. Fuji servo drive, an industry standard for accuracy, drives the backgauge.

SLOTLESS REAR TABLE KUDA features solid rear table without the center slot. Although a cheaper alternative than a solid table, the slot has potential to allow paper dust entering the lead screw. Furthermore, a slotless table makes spinning piles easier as there is no possibility for paper to catch. The main table as well as the extra large “cast Iron” side tables, are supplied standard with air and are fully hard- chromed to prevent rust and eliminate the need for waxing.

CLAMP PRESSURE ADJUSTMENT The KUDA CL controls various settings directly from the TFT computer touch screen. The Kuda CE uses an adjusting control knob. A false clamp comes standard and can be installed from the front.The clamp pedal features a soft clamp pressure setting for safety. Clamp pressures are variable from 330 lbs to 9,920 lbs.

KNIFE ACTUATION All KUDA models have knife speeds of 45 cyclesper minute. The actuation of the knife is via a hydraulic clutch - simple, reliable and extremely low on maintenance. The knife-head features an additional safety latch ensuring added operator protection. An overload device is built in to the linkage in case of over-stress to the knife. Finally, a totally enclosed worm-gear box drives the knife. Other than oil changes, the gear box requires no maintenance.

KNIFE CHANGING KUDA has simplified what was a complicated task by utilizing an elevator lift device to install the knife. With special tool supplied, now knife changing can be carried out quickly and safely. The knives are are extra thick with 18% Tungsten inlays.

KUDA SAFETY FEATURES All KUDA paper cutters have a host of safety features. The simultaneous actuation of the cut buttons ensure both hands are out of the cutting area during operation.

LEUZE infrared light barrier with 25 channels is unaffected by outside light sources. The light barrier is self monitoring.

An additional electro-mechanical safety latch locks the knifehead in the upper stroke and protect against cycle repeating.

The rear table features a complete plexiglass safety cover. While preventing foreign objects from entering the zone, it also keeps paper dust and dirt out.

All KUDA paper cutters are supplied with TUV-Rheinland safety equipment, including PILZ safety and self checking module.

The integrated switchgear and WESSEL hydraulic system are fully compliant to meet and exceed strict European Union “CE” directives. KUDA has spared no expense to make these cutters the safest in the industry.
