Subject: Grant of disability pension for the intervening period between the date ofexpiry of the initial award and recommendations of Fresh MedicalBoard - reg.

Sir',

The issue regarding grant of disability pension for the intervening period

between the initial awarcl ancl recommendation, of th" fiesh Medical Boarcl has

been urder consideration for sometime past. On expiry of the award given by the

rnedical board in respect of disability pension, it is discontinued till a fresh

Nrtredical Board recommencls the same. The findings of the Appeal Medical Board

ale efhcted frorn the date of institution of this Board. The individual is denied

disability pension for the intewening period. After considering the matter at

length, it has been decided.to address the award during the intervening period in

the malner rnentioned below:-

i) After the claim is rnade by the pensioner for an award druing the

intervening period, the admissibility of such a claim may be decided first by the

.A.dministrative Authority and when required, opinion of DGAFMS rnay be sought

wlio will either decide the case on the basis of available records or by holcting

fresh medical board to physicaily examine the individual and recommencl clearly

the assessment for the intewening period. Flesh cases - In future all cases of

appeals while deciding for disability pension, entitlement for intervening period

also will be recommended by the Cornpetent Medical Authority.

ii) It should be made mandatory for the Medical Boards to clearly state the

admissibility of the award in the intervening peliod in all cases in Column in

Notes below S.No.7 of AFMSF^\7 at page No,3 in future by issuing a clear cut

instructions in this regard at the earliest.

2. All such cases may be dealt with accordingly'
