APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

The online resource Nextgov reports that The Pentagon and National Nuclear Security Administration each receive approximately 10 million attempted network intrusions per day. The growth of the cybersecurity field reflects these realities: In the last five years, the number of cybersecurity-related job postings nationwide grew by more than 70%, with more than 209,000 postings in 2013 alone. The Federal CNCI notes that while 30,000 specialists are needed by government, approximately 2,000 have necessary skills. Demand is so high that students who have completed only one cybersecurity course have been known to get jobs in the field. Such positions are consequently very high paying.

Funded with support from JPMorgan Chase & Company, New Skills for a New Fight will develop cybersecurity professionals by providing the vital skills needed to operate as an entry level Incident Responder in a highly complex security operations center. The program leverages best practices in education, training, and certification via multiple partnerships with the USF College of Engineering, Art of Exploitation (AoE), ISACA, and CompTia, all leaders in cybersecurity. The curriculum is based on a sound methodology to enhance the student’s classroom experience through live lab learning and dynamic exercises. To ensure skills validation, students must complete scenario-based, hands-on tests that are mapped directly to the learning objectives within each class offering. Unlike traditional academic programs, our curriculum and instructors focus on developing the real-world skills necessary to perform in specific job roles. Additionally, through our partnerships with multiple certifying bodies, students will complete this program with the certifications necessary to comply with requirements for entry level positions.
