“Your word to spell is. . .
Encryption, bloviate, aubergine, chiffonade, cephalopod, portmanteau, isochronous , excoriate.”
Believe it, or not, these words were all in our 2014 Spelling Bee list. Congratulations to CCLS 2014 School Spelling Bee participants. Our local bee was held on Monday, January 13, 2014, and all students represented themselves, their classes, and CCLS in splendid fashion. Our champion speller is 7th grader, Danielle Bishop, spelling ―excoriate‖ correctly; with the first runner-up being 6th grader, Drew Allen. Danielle will continue on to the next semi-final level on Saturday, February 22, at McKendree University. Nice work!
CCLS Trivia Night
Do you make jewelry? Have you wanted to learn? Here’s a chance to do that and help in our support of CCLS-U. Tuesday, January 21 we are having a ―jewelry making get together‖ at the Kirkwood campus from 3:30-5:00pm. We are going to focus this day on making sets of wine charms. If you would like to help please come on over during this time and if you don’t already know how they are made, we will show you. If you can’t make it on the 21st, we are planning to have more ―get togethers‖, next time we will focus on bracelets and earrings, as our supplies are getting low.
