New website to launch Sept. 8Radio Maria is proud to announce the

launch of its newly re-designed website on Sept. 8. On that day, the old website will be taken down to reveal the all-new radiomaria.us.

According to Frank Hare, production manager at Radio Maria, the new design has been in the works for several months by both he and Renzo Mazzotti, a graphic designer and web and social media manager for The World Family of Radio Maria in New York.

The WordPress-based website main-tains the same functionality as before but was redesigned for a fresh new look and to make it easier to use on mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets.

“With more and more people using mo-bile devices to access the Radio Maria web-site,” he said, “we decided that a change in the site’s format was needed to make it more user-friendly across the board.”

Radio Maria first launched its website

about 13 years ago and has slowly evolved over the years but only undergone a few re-designs, most recently in 2008.

The three main areas of the website are how to listen, programming, and how to donate. On the new website each of these areas have been expanded to include more information and to make it easier to view on smaller formats like smartphones and tablets.

“Now the entire site, from the schedule to the programs and newsletter will be a lot easier to use on a mobile device,” said Hare.

Message to Marijana

“Dear children, the reason that I am with you, my mission, is to help you for ‘good’ to win, even though this does not seem possible to you now.

I know that you do not under-stand many things as I also did not understand everything, ev-erything that my Son explained to me while He was growing up alongside me - but I believed Him and followed Him. I ask this of you also, to believe me and to follow me.

However, my children, to fol-low me means to love my Son above everything, to love Him in every person without making dif-ferences. For you to be able to do this, I call you anew to renun-ciation, prayer and fasting.

I am calling you for the Eu-charist to be the life of your soul. I am calling you to be my apostles of light who will spread love and mercy through the world.

My children, your life is only a blink in contrast to eternal life. And when you come before my Son, in your hearts He will see how much love you had. In order to spread love in the right way, I

VOLUNTEERS FROM KBIO 87.9 in Natchitoches gathered together Aug. 8 to assemble a mailout for Radio Maria. Several new volunteers showed up to help. Ms. Gloria Jones, KBIO coordinator for the past 14 years, was surprised by the group with a birthday cake in celebration of her 84th

birthday. Even Father Robert Young, called her from the studio in Alexan-dria, and wished her a happy birthday on the air. Thank you Ms. Gloria for all you have done and for all that you continue to do for Radio Maria.

you and your shepherds. Through them my Son always gives Him-self to you anew and renews your soul. Do not forget this. Thank you.”

Message to Ivan Dragicevic

“Dear children, today in a spe-cial way I invite you to pray for peace. Open yourself to the Holy Spirit, dear children, so that the Holy Spirit may guide you.Partic-ularly at this time, dear children, pray for my beloved Holy Father; pray for his mission of peace.

I pray with you, interced-ing with my Son for each of you. Thank you dear children, because even today you have responded to my call.”

Volunteers gearing up for Sept. 16-20 Fall Mariathon

RM VOLUNTEERS. Sharon McCusker and Diane Ardoin talk to Production Manager Frank Hare about the logistics of getting everyone and everything in order before the Fall Mariathon Sept. 16-20. The typical Mariathon generates more than 1,000 calls from listeners around the world during a five-day period.

Even though the Mariathon is only five consecutive days, preparations for the event begins months ahead of time.

During a typical Mariathon, volunteers receive as many as 1,000 phone calls from listeners around the world during a five-day period. This means, a host of volunteers must be present on the other end to receive the calls.

“We have the best volunteers in the world at Radio Maria,” said Carla Rachal, RM administrative secretary. “They are al-ways so willing to give their precious time during a Mariation.”

Father Robert Young and Frank Hare will be busy lining up special guests for the Mariathon, preparing promotional scripts, and organizing the program schedule to accommodate the deviated schedule. The entire staff works 12 hour shifts for five straight days during the Mariathon.

“All in all, the Mariathon is a crazy, hectic five days,” said Father Robert. “But the generous attitudes and donations of our volunteers and listeners makes it all worth it. We all feel good about doing this for Our Blessed Mother.”

Winners named for Queenship of Mary sweepstakes Leah Guillory, a listener from Alex-

andria, LA was the grand prize winner ($5,000 cash) of the Queenship of Mary Sweepstakes held Aug. 22 at the Radio Maria station in Alexandria.

Other winners of the sweepstakes were Mary McMahan, from Moss Point, MS, winner of the $1,000 cash; and Florin-tina Palmiano, from New Iberia, LA, winner of $500 cash.

Before a crowd of volunteers and school children from local Catholic schools and the Catholic homeschooling commu-nity who gathered at the station, Fr. Dan O’Connor, pastor of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church in Alexandria, filled in for Father Robert (who was out of town) in host-ing the live drawing on the air. Drawing the winning names were Lucie Pugh, Lianne Kho, and Briggs Juneau. The Queenship of Mary sweepstakes drawing was held on the Feast of the Queenship of Mary (Aug. 22).

Volunteers will be available between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. to take your call to donate or to make a pledge. Please prayfully con-

sider making a monthly pledge or one time donation to Radio Maria to keep Our Lady’s tool of evangelization alive.

QUEENSHIP OF MARY DRAWING. Father Dan O’Connor, pastor of Our Lady of Prompt Succor in Alexandria conducts a brief prayer service in the Alexandria RM studio before the start of the drawing of the winning names for the Queenship of Mary sweepstakes.

“Thank you for your work and passion in sharing and promoting our wonderful Catholic Faith. Like your other fans I also enjoy the Jewish conversion stories and Jewish links you discuss on your radio program, “Salvation is from the Jews”. Your show and work truly is a stream through the des-ert for us wilderness Catholics!

The connections between the Jewish liturgy and the Catho-lic (and Orthodox) ones just add to the amazement and mystery of the hidden hand of God through the ages. That after 2,000 years there is still such a similarity and then to see the connections be-tween them and temple worship before Christ is simply astonish-ing.

I also enjoy the music you play in your intermissions, but could you let me know who the artists are? Thank you so much.” --Michele

“So grateful for Radio Maria. I pray for Saint Dymphna to inter-cede for the emotional and men-tally sick! Amen!” -- Keith D.

“I was catching up on some of your programs which I download from the Radio Maria site and wanted to offer a few comments. ,OLNHKRZ\RXGRQ¶WKDYHD¿[HGformat. It’s refreshing to have a mix of formats such as witness WHVWLPRQLHVIURPIXO¿OOHG-HZLVKCatholics, lessons from Larry Fe-ingold, airing some of your talks, and also your own lessons.

I just heard the two Barry Shwartz programs and thought they were great. I’ve heard Barry before but I never heard anyone ask him that if he believes so

much about the shroud, why is he not a Christian. In some ways, I think Barry remaining Jewish adds more credibility to his “min-istry”. Since he focuses on sci-HQWL¿F GDWD RQO\ , EHOLHYH PRUHpeople will listen to him. If he was a Christian others will think that he would be skewing his facts to push his beliefs.

You also might want to con-sider taking callers from time to time or answering emails from your listeners. Thanks for doing your show. -- Tom

“Praise God and thanksgiving to our Holy Mother for Radio Ma-ria. May our Father in Heaven’s blessing and continued grace be upon all of Radio Maria’s employ-ees, volunteers, and large family of listeners. Special thank you for “Sr. Anne Shields.” I do love lis-tening to the wisdom of her words. I listen to her show before I go to work. My day shifts. God Bless.” -- Jeannie C.

“This morning Radio Maria

played a rebroadcast of Robin Brun’s program “Putting Faith In Your Job Search,” that was origi-nally broadcast in August, 2012. The guest had started a job seek-ers group in Dayton, Ohio. In 2009, I was unemployed, and two of us visited this Dayton group. We then set up a job seekers group in Sidney, Ohio, and pat-terned it after this Dayton Group. I enjoy listening to the rebroad-cast programs on Radio Maria on the way to work in the mornings.” -- Rick W.

Jackie Breaux moved to Moss Bluff, La. 10 years ago upon her retirement. While registering to be a parishioner at St. Theo-dore in Moss Bluff, she inquired about any volunteer opportunities at the Church.

Rita Fontenot, a volunteer with Radio Maria, saw an opportunity to have another voice for Radio Maria and recruited her im-mediately.

Ten years later, and after too many live Rosaries and Liturgy of the Hours to count, Jackie Breaux has decided to “semi-retire” from her numerous volunteer activi-ties. Jackie has been the lead volunteer for Radio Maria and coordinated many of the on-air activities, promoted the station to parishes throughout the Diocese of Lake Charles, LA and especially St. Theodore.

Jackie said she will continue to listen to Radio Maria each and every day – all day – and promote the station to each and every person she encounters. But, her six grand-children and her three great grandchildren are a priority along with her family now.

Thank you, Jackie for your 10 years of tremendous support and time spent with Radio Maria! We know you will continue to be part of the family!

The Ohio group camped out overnight on the mountain to have a close up view of the appari-tion the next day. When Marjana was having her vision, she was facing the Ohio group so they could look right into her eyes! Incredible!
