This is a joint venture between Molong Central School and Miller Technology High. Mr Costa was the driving force behind this very successful event. The event allowed the forming of strong emotional ties (there were tears when the Miller students left for home) between both groups of students with the Miller students staying with local students and their families. It was inspiring to see these students who all have found themselves as refugees, tell some of their stories. This gave Molong students and staff a small glimpse of what they have been through, to see the resilience of these students and the joy they have being here in Australia and engaging in their education is a source of encouragement. It really was a unique opportunity to broaden the understanding of our students and the wider community to world events and the impacts these have on young people. I would like to express my appreciation for the hard work that Mr Costa put into the event, and also thank the staff and community for their support through the week. NEWS FROM THE SRC Last Friday the K-12 SRC held a festive dress up day to raise

money for Christmas presents to give to the 28 residents at

Prunus Lodge in Molong. We raised $350 on the day and this

was a fantastic and much appreciated effort from our school

community. The presents have been purchased over the

weekend and will be organised and wrapped by SRC members

during the week. The presents will be delivered by our Molong

Central Elves on the afternoon of Wednesday 14th December.

We thank you again for supporting such a wonderful local cause.

Miss Sally Pokoney, SRC coordinator

REMEMBERANCE DAY AT MCS Our School Captains, Bodhi Johnson, Tieke Thomas, Lachlan Hobbs and Ella Kirby led the School through a very solemn and thoughtful Remembrance Day service on the 11th of November. The students, from Kindergarten to Year 11, behaved with great respect and appreciation throughout and are to be congratulated for their active participation in the ceremony.

Our School Captains of Molong Central School Bodhi Johnson, Tieke

Thomas, Ella Kirby and Lachlan Hobbs. Our flag bearer for the ceremony

was Alex Stewart in Year 10.

MULTI-CULTURAL DAY at MCS 2016 From the 28th of November through to the 1st of December Molong Central School held a multi-cultural festival. Mr Costa, who deserves to be congratulated, organised this. The purpose of this festival was to expose our school to a range of cultures and have students from the Miller school share their refugee stories with us. On the first day we had refugee students from the Miller High School come and greet us at an assembly. It was great to meet a range of new faces. The students went home to billeting families and we all met up for dinner so we had a chance to meet everyone. The following day Miller students attended some classes with a student from each billeting family. It was lovely to see the Miller students welcomed with open arms. They then spent the rest of the day practicing their drama performance. Tuesday night both Molong Central and the Miller School students put on a performance. This showcased a range of talents from dancing and singing to drama performances. On Wednesday the Miller students went to the Western Plains Zoo with a member of their billeting family. This was a great chance to make some close friends and share amazing experiences. Thursday was the main day of the Multicultural festival. The morning was spent watching a wonderful drama performance presented by the Miller School students. This performance was eye opening for all students. They shared their stories of how they became refugees. The performance had the audience running from highs to lows in emotions. Following on from this the school had the opportunity to try food from all over the world. There were students buzzing with energy trying all foods possible. This lead into a relaxed morning listening to music and dancing with the Miller students. Through all of these activities all students formed a close bond with the Miller students. When it was time for them to go, there were tears from many of the Molong and Miller students. It is great to see some students intend keeping in contact. Through the Multicultural festival students have been able to witness stories of refugees from around the world and make friendships with students they would normally never meet.

Congratulations to Jack Ryan Jack has won a 2017 Music Scholarship at the Orange Regional Conservatorium. He attended an audition a few months ago and had to perform two contrasting pieces of music in front of a panel. Jack was successful in winning the 2017 Christine Hannus Music Scholarship Award in honour of excellence in Contemporary Studies. This is a real achievement knowing how many students each year from the Orange, Cabonne and the Blayney area apply and audition. He was awarded the scholarship on Saturday 3rd Dec and will commence his lessons in drums and percussion next term. Well done Jack! A great achievement!

Hi Everyone,

It would be greatly appreciated if all students could make a

concerted effort during the next two weeks to return their

books to the Library. If Year 12 students have titles that they

require for their assignments over the summer holidays they

need to come and see me. Overdue notices will go home

this week.

There are still Christmas books on display in the Library for

students to come and read. They will also be able to colour

in Christmas cards and make gift tags this week. The Library

is a good spot to come and relax away from the heat.

Scholastic Book Club orders arrived last Friday and were

distributed to students. If your child did not receive their

whole order can they please come and see me ASAP so it

can be dealt with before the end of term.

The Molong Central School eBook Platform is at:

https://molongcentralschool.wheelers.co. Please be vigilant

with your Primary children when they are using the

Platform and supervise what ebooks they are borrowing. 20 days to go until Christmas Day!
