Jesus said “Go”, so let’s GO! Here are some opportunities to serve together with unconditional “agape” love (sign ups in the Narthex or just call the church office):

Cereal Sunday

The first Sunday of each month, FPC Griffin has the honor to participate in "CEREAL SUNDAY". We ask members to bring bags or boxes of dry cereal and place them in the grocery cart located in the Narthex, near the wing of the Chil-dren's hall. This FOOD PANTRY ministry provides many poor and homeless indi-viduals a nutritious meal that can either be eaten dry or with milk. Please bring ce-real on June 2nd and July 7th.

Abundant Life Soup Kitchen

We will serve together again at the soup kitchen on Tuesday, 6/18 and Tuesday, 7/16 from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. If you haven’t tried this yet, it is a great opportunity to serve in our community with the love of Christ and also get the word out about who we are.

Habitat Day Coming Up!

It’s been a while since we served with Habitat. Toni Turner will let us know soon about a date to serve. Stay tuned!

Stewardship & Finance

Worship

Father's Day Scripture

As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him. Psalm 103:13 (NIV)

The fear the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight. Proverbs 9:10

Some translations of the Bible, such as the New International Version, sometimes replace the word "fear" with "reverence".

Fear of God. ... Fear of God refers to fear or a specific sense of respect, deep awe, and submission to God's omnipotence and his divine judgment.

SUMMER IS HERE

BUT OUR BILLS DON’T TAKE A VACATION

The grass needs mowing The plants need watering

The air conditioners are running all day And the staff still likes to receive their pay !

Please remember that your tithes and offerings

are still needed, Even if you are away.

Thank you,

The Stewardship and Finance Ministry Team

For Sunday School, the youth is starting a new series called More Than A Hashtag. In this 4-week series, the students will be challenged to not just post about the injustices around them, but to actually do some-thing about them by loving mercy, acting justly, and walking humbly. Sunday evenings, the youth will be going through the Gospel of John for the next 12 weeks. They will get an in depth look on topics like The Incarnate Word, The Final Passover, The Messiah’s Death, and Jesus’ Final Teaching and Prayer.

Children

Sports Camp at FPC is June 10-13 (5:00 – 7:30 p.m.)

Sports Camp is FREE and will be a unique and FUN experience for your K-5th grader this summer! Your child does not have to be a great athlete, but we will teach basic skills in football, tennis, basketball and soccer. That’s just one thing about Sports Camp. Mostly, we will have FUN and tell your child or grandchild about JESUS! Dinner provided. Go to our website at www.fpcgriffin.org to register your child or grandchild today!

You don’t have to know a thing about sports. We’ve got that part covered.

We just need you!

If you have a K – 5th grade child, grandchild or neighbor,

register them today!

From the very tops of its mountains, to the deepest depths of its oceans, planet earth is pretty incredible — and none of it was created by mistake! On the very first page of the Bible, we see that our planet, galaxy, and universe were all created with love and care by the same God who loves and cares for each of us. In this five-week Sunday School series through the story of crea-tion, kids will discover that the Bible tells God’s story, that God created the whole world, that God created us in His image, that sin separates us from God, and that Jesus takes away our sin. Hope Town has some exciting news! BibleMax has arrived just in time for summer! Be on the lookout for more details about BibleMax in the weeks to come. This will be a time for our K-5th grade students to come play and learn about who Jesus is!

Music Ministry

As we begin the summer activities of the church, I want to thank all the musicians who lead us in the worship services each Sunday. The members of the Chancel Choir, Handbell Choir and Praise Band give of their time and tal-ents to give honor and glory to God with music and song. I cannot say enough about the contributions Kitty Grubbs has made to each and every worship ser-vice since joining our staff as the church musician. It is wonderful to hear the organ again along with the beautiful preludes and postludes she plays each week. We are blessed to have such a multitalented musician on our staff.

The Chancel Choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings at 7:00. We have plenty of room for new singers to join us. The Handbell Choir meets on Mon-day evenings at 5:30 and we could really use more ringers! No need to wait for a special invitation and we don’t have auditions! Just join us at either or both rehearsals and we will have a place for you! Come join us as we share our tal-ents in praise and thanksgiving through music and song.

Hannah Lentz and I are making plans for a music camp on July 23rd for the youth. It’s in the planning stages right now, but we will have more details to announce during the Sports Camp, June 10-13.

Yours in Christ,

Sylvia Hollums

10

Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.

A Few Laughs

13

A little boy opened the big and old family Bible with fascination, and looked at the old pages as he turned them. Suddenly, something fell out of the Bible, and he picked it up and looked at it closely. It was an old leaf from a tree that had been pressed in between the pages. "Momma, look what I found," the boy called out. "What have you got there, dear?" his mother asked. With astonishment in the young boy's voice, he answered: "I think it's Adam's suit!"

a question for you... Are you ready to die?"

The Proposal

A college senior took his new girlfriend to a football game.

The young couple found seats in the crowded stadium and were watching the action. A substi-tute was put into the game, and as he was running onto the field to take his position, the boy said to his girlfriend, "Take a good look at that fellow. I expect him to be our best man next year."

His girlfriend snuggled closer to him and said, "That's the strangest way I ever heard of for a fel-low to propose to a girl. Regardless of how you said it, I accept."
