The garden started in 2009, strives to grow educated environmental conscious students. One way coordinator Kevin Anderson achieves this by hosting bimonthly workshops. “Good Bug/ Bad Bug” the last workshop in February is aimed at teaching students the benefits of bugs and pests in the garden. Anderson will be focusing specifically on ladybugs commonly utilized by Florida farmers, many people mistake lady bug-larva for unwanted pests. “Don’t squish it and then wish you hadn’t missed this workshop,” says Anderson. The workshop will start promptly at 11 a.m. on Friday morning the 20 th and will be hosted in the garden. Bring comfortable clothes, closed toed shoes and an open mind. If the weather does not allow garden attendance, the new location will be posted on the garden’s Facebook page. About the Ogier Gardens The Frederick and Ophelia Tate Ogier Gardens will serve as a living laboratory for students to explore multiple disciplines. Programs strive to promote student health and wellness through outdoor recreation & experiential learning. UNF will serve as a model for other non-land grant universities incorporating experiential learning on farms or with gardens. ###
