Year 8, when not at Neasden, enjoyed the many facets of Forensic Science, while Year 9s over two days had a tremendous variety of experiences from the CAPA and Technology faculties: making cupcakes, designing clothes from newspaper, taking the ‘eggdrop’ challenge, samba dancing, creating headdresses, samba drumming, electronic rhythms and Media experiences. Year 10s had an equally exciting couple of days: in Maths it was Coding, exploring Morse, Semaphore, Pigpen, crosswords, and finally a College Treasure Hunt. From the TVIBE Faculty, a group brought in a huge range of active, practical puzzles to challenge students’ Problem Solving capabilities. With Year 13 completing a Wellbeing Day, mirroring several years on some of the thought processes of the Year 7 activity, Year 11 taking their Mock GCSE exams, there certainly was a packed programme. With many thanks to activity organisers and all supporting staff, this was a particularly challenging, thought-provoking, active and fun set of experiences for Collingwood students. There were indeed a lot of smiles during this out-of-classroom learning.

Maddie Clifford (8D) (2nd place) for the Year 8 girls once again stole the show for us with a great display of running. Ellie Coldicott 8A also ran extremely well in her first appearance for the College. Year 8 boys, just like the Year 7 boys, did extremely well in tough conditions. All the boys gave 100% throughout the race and did themselves and the College proud.

In the Year 9 girls’ race Lucy Duckworth 9G (6th place) and Lara Pearson 9A (9th place) led the way for the girls which resulted in them picking up 3rd place overall for the team event, a wonderful achievement by them. We only had one runner for the Year 9 boys but Luke Stanton 9E ran incredibly well to come home in 3rd place in a very high standard of race. Onto the final two events and Year 10/11 girls were the penultimate race, Jules Rabey 10E and Maya James 10G

both ran excellent races against some very strong opposition. The final race was Year 10/11 boys, Max Duckworth 10E ran an exceptional race to come home in 3rd place and the other boys supported him well gaining some well-deserved high finishes. All our competitors did the College proud in some very cold and wet conditions, but I believe that’s what X-Country is all about! Teams as follows: Year 7 Girls: Mila Cass, Autumn Hedley, Zara Hogston, Izzy James, Lotty Rabey, Lauren Taylor Year 7 Boys: Cameron Clark, Harry Dalton, Ryan De Ruijter, Rhys Evans, Seb McBride, Daniel Prince, Jake Webb Year 8 Girls: Maddie Clifford, Ellie Coldicott, Holly Mannion, Lola Yates Year 8 Boys: Charlie Comer, Charlie Hill, Dylan Hobbs, Jack Sawyer, James Stuart Year 9 Girls: Charlotte Devlin, Lucy Duckworth, Poppy Llufrio-Arnold, Lara Pearson, Neve San Emeterio Year 9 Boys: Luke Stanton Years 10/11 Girls: Emily Dillamore, Maya James, Jules Rabey Years 10/11 Boys: Isaac Becket, Jacob Cowler, Max Duckworth, Kai Hobbs, Callum Long, Toby Mann, James White

On Tuesday 13 November the Collingwood B team played against Tomlinscote B team. It was a successful match for both teams, even though Collingwood won 3-1. Both teams played amazingly and worked together as strong teams. Our team consisted of Jas Lilley (Team

Captain/Goal Shooter), Millie Sawyer (Centre), Edith Bentley (Goal Attack), Olivia Kelly (Wing Attack), Flo Emerson (Goal Defence), Ellie Flowers (Goal Keeper) Rosie Easton and Freya Weekes (Wing Defence – they were subs from the A team who came onto B team). The player of the match for Collingwood was Millie Sawyer! Well done to both schools!

Jas Lilley 7A and Millie Sawyer 7D The A team also played on the same evening. A very close game, the first three quarters were tied. Tomlinscote managed to sneak two goals in the last quarter to take the win. Player of the match was awarded to Saoirse Wedick. The girls are working hard in training ready for the next match against King’s International.

Team: Eloise Barnett, Saoirse Wedick, Rosie Easton, Lexie Coster, Freya Weekes, Maria Mercadal, Sophie Harkness, Jena Wilkinson-Ingram, Maya Akbar Phillips
