    NOLA VEGGIE FEST

    Roots

The Fest is a project of the Humane Society of Louisiana, a statewide, New Orleans-based charity, which was founded in the city in 1988. The roots of the NOLA Veggie Fest go back to 1990, when the Humane Society (formerly LISA, League in Support of Animals) held the city’s first all vegetarian festival at the World Trade Center in downtown New Orleans. Subsequent vegan fests followed in the 90s, culminating in the opening of the city’s first vegan restaurant, Jack Sprat’s Vegetarian Grill,

which operated for four years on Carrollton Avenue. The current incarnation of the festival was

    resurrected after Katrina in 2009.

  • NEW AT NOLA VEGGIE FEST

    In 2016

New Location! We have a new home at The Kingsley House, located at 1600 Constance St. in uptown New Orleans! We will be secure within the brick walls and gates that surround a beautiful, sprawling courtyard with a canopy of live oak trees!

New Vibe! Our new location will enable Nola Veggie Fest to grow in many ways as a festival! We will still provide VEGucation, animal welfare resources, and local networking to empower our community, but his year will ALSO have live music, a great VIP area, fun for kids, Mother’s Day door prizes, vendors, restaurants, animals, entertainment….the list keeps growing! Did we mention that this event will also be FREE to the public?!

New Challenges! With so many new changes, come new challenges. One hurdle we face this year is to recover the loss of revenue we’ve typically seen from admissions cost. Opening free to the public is a service that we are excited to provide to the community, but we’ve had to create other strategies to generate funds. One way is that we will be selling VIP bracelets for $20 and $100. Our VIP area will feature exclusive vegan fare from local vendors and beer from Nola Brewery that will be available only to VIP patrons. There will also be private VIP bathrooms and VIP goodie bags! What a deal! Visit NolaVeggieFest.com for information coming soon on how to buy yours! Another way we hope to find funding is through our new GoFundMe account. It is set up so that supporters like you can donate as little or as much as desired to Nola Veggie Fest. Help us remain a FREE event by donating at our Nola Veggie Fest GoFundMe page.

New to Nola Veggie Fest? If you would like to participate as a sponsor, vendor, nonprofit, volunteer, or “other,” please go to our website for links to the information and forms you need...and welcome!

Newest Needs! We need: refrigerated and freezer storage leading up to and during NOVF; ALL PR contacts; bartenders; event/supply sponsors; hotel & B&B contacts; alcohol and bar donations; money; your time...

    Can YOU help?
