Meadows School Newsletter 08 March 2016 www.duffieldmeadows.derbyshire.sch.uk General Information Welcome – we are currently providing placements for two trainee teachers from Derby University. They are nearing the end of their PGCE training and this is their final placement before taking up full-time employment in teaching in September. They are Miss Lydia Tombs, placed in the Owls class, and Mr Adam Riley, placed in the Wrens class – so you may hear your children from those classes talk about a ‘new teacher’ for part of the time between now and June. Request from Mrs James – please does anyone have a small crocheted blanket or throw (any colour) which could be used for the small sofa in her class reading corner? Extra-Curricular Activities – the summer term programme, with booking forms, is being sent out in book bags today and will also be posted on the school website. Please note that clubs and activities will be starting in the first week back after Easter. I must also remind all parents and children of our high expectations for behaviour at extra-curricular activities – nothing less than perfect, of course. A sad goodbye – to one of our Teaching Assistants, Mrs Diane Whiteside. After 12 years of supporting many children and classes at Meadows, Diane is moving on to a new job. We wish her all the very best – she will be greatly missed. Well done and thank you to all who took part in our recent Spring Music Concert. Yet again, the standard of performance was impressive, and a tribute to all of the children and their teachers.
