A planned gift is a heroic act of kindness that helps leave a lasting impact on the healthcare of your family, your neighbours, your friends, your coworkers and yourself.

The life you’ve built says a lot about you, your values and what you care about the most. Your gift will build a brighter future and leave a legacy that lives on through generations.

The Foundation’s planned giving options provide income or potential savings now and in the future, without affecting your present lifestyle.

Whether you choose to give through a cash donation, life insurance policy, a bequest in your will, gifts of publicly traded stock options, bursaries, endowments, RRSPs, or even gifts of property or art, there is a way to give that can suit everyone’s needs.

Bequests

Gifts made through a will are called bequests. Your bequest can be a fixed amount, a specific percentage of the residual amount of the estate, and/or a specific asset. A bequest in your will to a charity of your choice will provide tax relief for your estate in the year of death.

Gifts of Life Insurance

A gift of life insurance makes it possible for you to leverage your contributions to your charity of choice. Your gift to charity is assured with a paid-up policy or through a policy with ongoing premiums paid by the donor.

Endowment Funds

The idea of creating a perpetual stream of financial support makes sense for people who see a similarity between retirement funds and endowment provisions. Only the income or a portion thereof will be used to support the Hospital Foundation.

To discuss your options to leave a legacy with the Foundation please contact:

Keith Curtis, Executive DirectorPhone: 780 831-1380Email: [email protected]

Always seek the advice of an accredited estate planner, financial advisor or legal counsel when considering your legacy giving goals, and then contact us to determine how your gift can make a difference at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital.

Grande Prairie Costco’s Annual Pediatric Penguin Campaign

Penguin Alert! All September, be on the watch for cute little penguins at the local Costco tills.

Why should you “buy” a penguin. Do not worry; you won’t have to build an artic playground in your bathroom. You are actually buying a very precious paper penguin that represents the support of the Pediatric Penguin Campaign, a fantastic event supported by Grande Prairie’s Costco to create the best care possible for our pediatric patients while in the hospital. The results continue to amaze us!

“Family and community are vital – because together we are stronger,” explains manager Ray Seabrooke, “our hospital is an essential part of our community, and we want to ensure it is there for everyone, including children.”

The first-ever Pediatric Penguin Campaign, in 2018, raised enough money to purchase 2 infant ventilators and in 2019, 2 Pediatric MEDi Robots. This year fundsraised will go towards the purchase of a Babyleo IncuWarmer – it is the next best thing to a mother’s womb.

These purchases continue to change the lives and the stories of children in our hospital every day.

You don’t have to wait – if you believe children deserve extra comfort and care in our hospital, donate today by visiting www.gphospitalfoundation.ca/donate!

Each September, Smile Cookies are available at Tim Hortons restaurants across Grande Prairie. Stop by and pick one up and spread the smiles!

For $1.00 you can purchase a Smile Cookie with all proceeds going to towards children’s’ initiatives at the QEII and Grande Prairie Regional Hospital. Tim Hortons is supporting pediatric patients in your region.

We are stronger together.

Did you know the Sargent Family Foundation, Sean Sargent Toyota, and Ken Sargent GMC Buick Ltd. together make the largest single purchase of Smile Cookies in Canada? How amazing!

“Every child deserves to smile,” explains Sargent. His companies purchase over 20k cookies each year and the Hospital Foundation has the honour of helping Sean deliver – in style! Look for the A-Team Van with the Smile Cookie logos on the side and the Foundation’s Therapeutic Clown. Deliveries are made to all schools, city workers, and healthcare workers. “…during these few days when delivering cookies, the smiles are contagious,” says Sargent. The hope is that by showing students what giving does to themselves and their classmates, that they will, in turn, look for ways to give back to their community.

Smile Cookies will be available from September 14th to September 18th, with pre-orders being accepted now.

Not everyone’s trip to the hospital is planned, often they are missing essential items like socks to keep their feet warm as well as, underwear and deodorant.

Can you spare a pair of new socks? Donations can be dropped off at 2dayfm GP.
