Breakfast Club changes:From Monday 29th April please be aware of the following change.

Our breakfast club is becoming more popular which is fantastic news. In order to ensure that we have enough staff to manage each session it is important that you book your sessions online on the school money site.

At the moment we have some children who arrive without making a booking online; whilst we never turn children away we have limited staff available for breakfast club so we want to make sure our arrangements are always safe. You can book for the next day up until 4pm the previous day. We have up to 30 slots and you will be unable to book when we have reached our limit of 30 places. This ensures that all the children that attend are safe and that we have sufficient resources to meet everyone’s needs.

Thank you for your support on this matter.

Staff NewsWe welcome Mr Charles Kerridge who has taken on the caretaking role here, we hope that he settles into our community. We thank Mr Wate for his recent support when we were in need.

Mrs Mrak joined our team before Easter as a teaching assistant and has settled in very well. We also welcome to our team Ms Dark who joins us as a higher level teaching assistant, Ms Dark is a returner to Our Lady of Lourdes. We also welcome Mrs Sanders who will be joining us full time in May as a teaching assistant. We welcome them all to our team.

Sadly Mrs Elizabeth Holland is leaving us in May to spend more time with her family. We thank her for her time with us it is much appreciated and wish her well in this new phase of her life.

Year 4Year 4 girls enjoyed a quick trip to Westcliff High School for Girls on Wednesday this week. They had a very interesting tour and some taster lessons.

Some quotes from the children:The school was humongous!,I loved it, it was so cool.I really want to go there. Everyone there was really kind and friendly. We had such fun doing art and drawing. They have donuts!

On Tuesday, 4L were the Google Classroom ‘guinea pigs’ up at St Thomas More and loved creating a mind map for their topic on railways. Mrs Leftley also enjoyed commenting on their work in real time. Some pupils even carried on working at home in the evening. We’re all looking forward to using it again.

HOWZAT! Year 4 had their first innings of PE this Wednesday and try(ed) really hard not to crease their PE kit. Yes, you’ve guessed it they played cricket! (How many cricketing references did you spot?)

Fun Run Saturday 27th April 2019After the success of our first ever fun run last year we are excited to be doing it again this year on Saturday. It is a fantastic school event where we come together with our friends from Sacred Heart and St. George’s, to raise funds for our school, get fit and enjoy each other’s company. This is a sponsored run, so that every child in school is invited to participate and raise money for our school by asking for sponsors from their family and friends. This year all the funds raised will be used to improve our Early Years garden area. We start the run at the Sea Life Centre on Eastern Esplanade and we will start registering everyone at 9.00am for a 9.30am start. We finish at Uncle Tom’s Cabin on Shoebury Common Road. There are special prizes for the class with the most number of children who join us in the fun run and for the class that raises the most money. Each school child participating will receive a medal at the finish line. Additionally, at the finish line there is a free doughnut or banana and drink for the children to replenish all that energy they have used up.It really is a great occasion and still leaves lots of time to enjoy your Saturday! We look forward to seeing you there.

Week 1: Emotional Health and Well-Being: Embrace MistakesMistakes are an important part of learning – we all make them! However, as children grow, many can find them intimidating and embarrassing. Teaching our children that it is okay to make mistakes is essential. Giving children the confidence to make mistakes and not give up is a crucial life lesson. Praising their efforts and encouraging them will help them build resilience.
