3rd Floor Food Drive

Mrs. Nawrot’s class is organizing the fall food drive.  All the 3rd floor classes are collecting canned, boxed, and packaged food.  They will be having a competition between the classes from Oct. 1 – Nov. 2.  The 3rd floor class who collects the most items will receive a free out-of-uniform day and a movie reward.  Last year the 3rd floor collected 2,042 items for the local food pantries.

PS – We have $327.50 in Boxtops so far as well.

How’s Your Light bulb?

September has come and gone!  We have been assessing students’ knowledge and now it’s time for…another assessment!  It may seem that we spend so much of our time at the beginning of the year making students take tests.  It’s true!  It’s one way we can determine how our kids are performing.  But, it’s not the only way.  Throughout the year, we are exposing kids to a wide variety of activities in and out of the classroom to get their light bulb to turn on.  We are accountable for helping students grow academically but just as importantly we are responsible for helping them discover and develop their passions.  It takes time.  We need to get to know the abilities, backgrounds, experiences and learning styles of each and every student and capitalize upon these strengths and interests so that all children are able to meet their greatest potential.  So, our hope is that we will have many light bulbs turning on in every classroom this year.  It sure will make for a “bright” school!
