Service Pack 7 will be available for automatic download on April 15th, 2017. Customers who would like to get
the service pack immediately may download it manually using the instructions linked from Service Pack

USE OBJECTSTORE AS A SOFTWARE REPOSITORY FOR DOWNLOAD CENTER
You can now use the Commvault ObjectStore as a software repository for Download Center.
Multiple service providers (MSPs) and enterprise-level companies can use the ObjectStore as a software
repository to deliver software to end-users through the Download Center in the Web Console, without relying
on a third-party content delivery network (CDN).

Avoid reliance on third-party content delivery networks (CDN) to host downloadable packages.

LINKING A COMMCELL USER WITH A CLOUD SERVICES COMMVAULT ID
You can link a Cloud Services Commvault ID to a CommCell user. When the accounts are linked, users can log
on to the CommCell environment with either the credentials from their Cloud Services account or from their
local CommCell account.
During CommServe installation, you can link your Commvault ID to the new CommServe database. If you do
not have a Commvault ID, you can create it during installation.

You can perform backup operations and restore operations on SAP HANA multitenant databases from the
CommCell Console.

SUPPORT FOR MULTISTREAM RESTORE OPERATIONS ON MULTIPLE NODES WITH THE FILE SYSTEM AGENT
For File System Agents, the restore operation uses a single stream and a single node by default. You can use
multiple streams on multiple nodes to perform faster restore operations.
We recommend using multi-node restores when you want to perform restores to distributed or network file
systems such as NFS and CIFS mounted across multiple machines.

ADMIN CONSOLE SUPPORT FOR GOOGLE MAIL AND GOOGLE DRIVE BACKUP - EARLY RELEASE FEATURE
The Admin Console is a web-based user interface that you can use to back up Google mailboxes.
Using the Admin Console, you can easily configure and manage backups for both the Google mail application
and the Google drive application.
The Admin Console provides summary information about jobs, alerts, and events.

Back up and restore Google mailboxes and the drive data of all your user accounts.
Schedule backups to run automatically at regular intervals.
If an accidental permanent deletion or a user account hack occurs, then you can restore from the latest
backup copy.
You can easily configure and manage backups for both the Google mail application and the Google drive

NAS AGENT SUPPORTS INDEXING V2
The NAS agent software now supports the latest version of indexing, called Indexing V2. Indexing V2 has some
major improvements over the previous version of indexing, including increases in performance, reliability, and
efficiency.

Backup operations and indexing operations are now separate, which reduces the amount of time for
backups to complete.

Indexes are created from transactional log files, for faster and more reliable index database
construction.
There is a single index database for each backup set, which results in a smaller media footprint.

CONTENT ANALYZER, ENTITY EXTRACTION, AND ENTITY-BASED ARCHIVING – EARLY RELEASE FEATURE
With Content Analyzer and entity extraction, you can identify the data in your environment that contains one
or more specific types of information. You can then use that knowledge to create more targeted strategies
and increase the efficiency of your data management operations.
The Content Analyzer adds semantic identifiers to the content indexing data in your Search Engine. You
can use these additional semantic identifiers to create more targeted rules for archiving based on specific types
of information present in the content of the data. You can also use entity extraction with Data Cube file system
data sources to visualize the types of information in your files.

REDUNDANCY FOR ONEPASS SUBCLIENTS
You can now perform a redundancy check to ensure that multiple copies of files are available on the storage
media. A file that meets the archiving rules is stubbed only if the data is available in two distinct storage policy
copies.
KEY FEATURES
This feature is useful when you have one or more of the following scenarios:
You have only one copy of a file on storage media (including tape), and the storage media is corrupted,
or the tape is misplaced.
You configured retention settings incorrectly, so that the only copy was pruned from the storage media.

SUBCLIENT RETENTION OPTIONS ARE NOW CATEGORIZED AS ARCHIVE AND BACKUP
The labels for subclient retention options are now more accurate and easier to understand. While the labels for
the options have changed, the functionality remains the same.
To provide more granular support, retention options are now divided into Archiver Retention and Backup
Retention, and are labeled as follows:
Archiver Retention
o Use storage policy copy retention after n days is now Extend retention for N years
N months and N days.
o Retain Indefinitely is now Extend retention indefinitely.
Backup Retention
o Use storage policy copy retention after N days for deleted files is now After deletion
keep items for N years N months N days.
o Retain Indefinitely for deleted files is now After deletion keep items indefinitely.

Retention time is now specified in years, months, and days.
Retention for archived files is the same whether the source file is deleted or replaced with a stub.
Retention for previous versions of a file is now based on the number of versions or a period of time.

CONVERSION OF AMAZON INSTANCES TO AZURE VIRTUAL MACHINES - EARLY RELEASE FEATURE
When restoring from an Amazon backup, you can restore an Amazon instance as an Azure virtual machine.
You can convert Windows and Linux instances and deploy them to Azure Classic or Azure Resource Manager.
Conversion is supported from streaming backups or IntelliSnap backup copies, but not from IntelliSnap
backups.

APPLICATION AWARE BACKUPS FOR AMAZON - EARLY RELEASE FEATURE
You can use the Virtual Server Agent to perform application aware backups for Amazon Windows instances
that run the following applications:
Microsoft Exchange
Microsoft SharePoint
Microsoft SQL Server
Oracle database (for Windows)
Application aware backups capture the state of application data at the time of the backup, including data in
memory and pending transactions, which makes restoring the application for continued use easier. An
application aware backup for an instance quiesces the application, flushes its memory, completes pending
write operations, and then creates a snapshot of application data. After the snapshot is created, the application
resumes.
This feature is supported only for streaming backups.
KEY FEATURES
For all supported applications, you can use an application client to perform full database restores.
For Microsoft Exchange, you can use the Exchange Database Agent to restore a database or to perform
mining to recover granular mail data from an application aware backup.
For Microsoft SharePoint, you can perform application aware backups from a VSA subclient, then
perform mining from a SQL Server database client associated with the SharePoint application to recover
granular data.

You can use Commvault IntelliSnap to back up and recover Azure virtual machines using either the Azure
Classic or the Azure Resource Manager deployment model. You can quickly back up large numbers of virtual
machines, perform multiple backups daily, and recover full instances without actual transfer of data.

VMWARE VSPHERE 6.5 SUPPORT
With Service Pack 7, vSphere 6.5 is fully supported for streaming and IntelliSnap backups and restores.
The Virtual Server Agent (VSA) package includes VDDK 6.5 and VDDK 6.0.2, and automatically loads the
appropriate VDDK based on the VMware deployment. This approach means a VSA proxy can support vSphere
6.5 or a legacy deployment that includes older ESX versions.

NETAPP LIGHT SNAPSHOT REPLICATION - EARLY RELEASE FEATURE
With the NetApp Light Snapshot Replication feature, you can replicate NetApp snapshots without using the
OnCommand Unified Manager (OCUM) server.
The NetApp Light Snapshot Replication feature leverages the existing Commvault offline snapshot replication
framework to replicate snapshots from a source NetApp array to a pre-configured target NetApp array.
The NetApp Light Snapshot Replication feature is supported only for NetApp cluster mode (C-Mode) storage
arrays and only for the Primary-Vault configuration. This feature does not deprecate the existing OCUM
snapshot replication support.

Edge Endpoint Solutions
EDGE DRIVE QUOTA - EARLY RELEASE FEATURE
Using Edge Drive Quota, administrators can define the amount of space users can use on their Edge Drive
repository.
KEY FEATURES
Organizations can save on storage cost and effectively manage the space in the repository.
Users can view the amount of space used and the maximum storage limit for their Edge Drive from the
Web Console.
The user and administrator get a notification when the amount of used space is nearing the maximum
storage limit.
When the amount of used space reaches the maximum limit, you can no longer upload new files to the
Edge Drive.
Deleting files will free up the storage space in the repository.

ANALYZE AND FIX COMMCELL ISSUES USING THE HEALTH REPORT
The Health Report includes new tiles that you can use to troubleshoot CommCell issues and to resolve the
issues by running workflows directly from the report. You can use the Version and Service Pack tile to identify
whether your CommCell software is current and to install the latest updates. You can use the Disaster
Recovery Backup tile to evaluate your disaster recovery configuration and to update Disaster Recovery settings
for the CommCell environment.

The Health Report is now available on Web Console with all CommCell installations.
Use links inside the Health Report to run workflows that fix CommCell issues.
View the status of the software that is installed on your CommServe computer and update to the latest
version.

You can now use Commvault ObjectStore as an External Storage Provider (ESP) for Jive software. The
Objectstore provides secure storage for files that are uploaded from Jive.

RECALL LOG MONITORING
Use the Commvault Recall Log Monitoring solution to monitor the CommCell environment for recall patterns
and recall auditing, and to reassess archiving rules for recall optimization. For example, if you notice that a file
is being recalled too frequently, you can change the archiving rules for the file so that that the file is not
stubbed immediately.
KEY FEATURES
Search and analyze recall log files that have been content indexed by monitoring policies.

XDS AND DICOM SUPPORT FOR CLINICAL IMAGE ARCHIVING - EARLY RELEASE FEATURE
With the Commvault Clinical Image Archiving solution, you can now archive and retrieve medical data using
the Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) standard and the Cross-Enterprise Document
Sharing (XDS) specification.
KEY FEATURES
Using the Admin Console, you can manage supported healthcare data that use the following protocols:
Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) standard
Cross-Enterprise Document Sharing (XDS)
Health Level Seven (HL7)
You can also perform the following data management operations:

however, we fully support customers on the three most recent service packs. Thus, to remain fully supported,
you must apply service packs at least every 6 months.
