Email Communication In order to improve communication between the school and parents/caregivers, Cobar High has been trialling the use of email through our student computer software "Sentral". Current feedback indicates the trial has been successful. However we would appreciate more feedback to facilitate further improvements. This term, we will start emailing letters such as invites, notifications of non-attendance and incomplete work. These will be sent from either the [email protected] or [email protected] email address and will appear as a PDF attachment. The email heading will say Cobar High School Student Wellbeing Notification for (Student Name). This will be our preferred method of contact for items such as the above due to changes in the postal service. Postage services will still be available if requested and for those without email.
Staffing This term Mr Watts is on Long Service Leave the first four weeks. Mr Armstrong will be Relieving Head Teacher Science during this time. Ms Muldoon has very generously agreed to work full-time and take the majority of Mr Watts’ classes. Mrs Arnold is still on sick leave. Mr Klopper will continue as Relieving Head Teacher until Mrs Arnold returns. Thank you again to Ms Dean who is teaching Mrs Arnold’s classes. Welcome back to Ms Rook who has returned from maternity leave.
Year 7 Camp Year 7 students, Mr Klopper and Ms Dixon are currently at the Great Aussie Bush Camp. Please see our Facebook page for some great photos. This excursion enables students to cement friendships, challenge themselves in a different environment and form strong connections as a year group. Thank you Mr Klopper and Ms Dixon for giving up your time to take the students.
School Photos School photos will be on Thursday 19th May. Envelopes with correct money must be given to the photographers. If students do not have an envelope, please see the Front Office. Students must be in school uniform for the photos.
Uniform With the cooler weather arriving, please ensure that students are wearing the correct jumpers to school. A plain navy blue jumper or coat, or the school hoodie which is embroidered.
Attendance Attendance is important. Students cannot progress unless they are here. On time attendance is a lifelong skill students need to develop. Arriving a few minutes late on a regular basis adds up to a significant amount of learning time lost. Students should attend school on time every day unless there is a legitimate reason.
Best Wishes
Best wishes to Jayme Francisco who is currently on maternity leave. Welcome to Ms Lucy Rakecki who is replacing her. Sue Francisco

Each year our students are offered the opportunity to participate in external competitions run by the University of NSW, The Australian Geographical Society and the History Teachers Association of Australia. These competitions provide our students with valuable experience of testing procedures outside our school environment. Dates for 2016 entry fees and competition dates are:
Payment must be received by the due dates, or if you prefer, several/all entries may be paid in advance. It would be appreciated if correct money (cash or cheque) could be brought to the Administration Office as we do not carry change and we do not have eftpos facilities.
All students are invited to participate in any/all of the competitions. If your student is not in a Select Class, information and return slips may be obtained from Year Advisers or the Front Office. We wish your student well in the competitions and thank you for supporting your child’s learning.

STUDENT INVOICES Re: General School Contribution & Elective Subject Contributions
In order to be able to provide the items used by students in their electives and to maintain a fair and equitable distribution of
consumables it is essential for all students to pay their Elective Subject Contributions. When students elect a subject, they
do so with the knowledge that they are required to pay the advertised contribution.
Elective subject contributions (Years 9 to 12) depend on the subject(s) chosen and are payable for consumable materials
required by students for the practical component of the course.
Although General School Contributions are voluntary they are essential in enabling our school to continue to provide a
quality education to our students.
Invoices for the General School Contribution and Elective Subject Contribution fees were sent out last term. If your Invoice
is still outstanding, we would appreciate payment at your earliest convenience. Payments can be made to the Front Office by
cheque or cash (please enclose the correct amount) or by direct deposit.
Direct deposit details:

Westpac Bank
BSB: 032 001
Account No. 147713
Please put your student’s name on deposit to ensure correct invoice is paid.
Alternatively, fees may be paid by fortnightly payments.
