little giggly and excitable in the presence of the dazzling duo! ed’s note: including the editor’s wife I might add!

The week flew by with countless activities to get stuck into and literally thousands of other Scouts and Guides to meet. The Chailey group and all our helpers from across the country pulled together as a fantastic team to ensure a great week was had by all and we came away with some excellent memories. Thank you to everyone involved for a great week!

Pedal Power In 2012 Emily Coleman joined us on Summer Camp to help out, she enjoyed it so mach that she went home and talked her dad into coming to help out the following year so at WS we had Emily and John’s help which was greatly appreciated! John and Emily have now decided that they would like to raise funds for the group and are taking on an incredible challenge…

Cycling the length of the Great Britain., they will start at Land's End in the south west of Cornwall taking in 1000 miles of English, Welsh and Scottish coastal roads and highways completing the route in 14 days at John O'Groats in the far north east of Scotland.

John and Emily have set up a fundraising page for this amazing feat, you can find it here:

Good luck John & Emily!

Philip’s passion leaves a lasting legacy… Philip Richards was a member of 2nd Chailey Scout group for most of his years at Chailey and enjoyed many Summer Camps with us as well as weekly meetings. Another of Philip’s great passions was his model railway, a vast collection of engines, rolling stock and accompanying scenery that was something to behold. Sadly Philip passed away in July 2006, since then Philip’s parents have kept in touch with the group and generously donated funds to the group for equipment and to help out with the expenses of running our annual camp. This year, Philip’s parents have donated his train set for us to sell to raise funds for the group. The set will be sold by auction at West Street Auction Galleries by Wallis & Wallis (www.wallisandwallis.co.uk) on Monday 17th March. Wallis & Wallis have also generously offered to wave their fee. Thank you so much to Mr & Mrs Richards, to Wallis and Wallis and to Philip.

Summer camp 2014 is on it’s way! 26th July - 1st August This year we will be returning to the beautiful grounds of Ardingly College. Letters will be coming out soon, but if you want come (and we’d love for you to come!) please contact us to make sure we have up to date contact details for you.
