PRINCIPAL’S REPORT

Hello Parents and Friends,

What a fabulous day we had on Friday!!! The community spirit we felt across the school at our Colour

Explosion reminded us all of why we love our school so much. Thank you to every student, staff member

and family member who helped to make it great. A special thank you to Trish Lammens and Oriel Rose

for their hard work and organisation, and to Megan Watson for taking 400 photos! A special thank you

also to everyone who donated money to help us to provide more computers for our students

Our Curriculum Day on Wednesday was a very successful day for our teachers. We spent the day

planning for how we can further increase outcomes for every student as we move towards 2020.

This year we participated in the Lions Club Public Speaking Awards. Our Grade 4 entrant, Harmony, and

our Grade 5 entrant, Emily, both did extremely well. This week I received a call from the Lions Club to

say that the students who beat these girls went through to the end of the competition. The Grade 3/4

person won the whole competition, the 5/6 person came second. Our girls have really done Cardinia

Primary School proud!

A hat reminder. There are a few students who are still coming to school without a hat. Please could you

check that your children do bring their hats with them? It is a departmental initiative that Victorian

Primary schools be sun smart.

Thursday will be Alicia’s last day with us. Alicia has been an integration aide here for several years. We

will all miss having Alicia around and we thank her for the work she has done with many of our students.

We wish Alicia well as she starts her work at her new school.

Thanks to the parents who came along to our information afternoon meeting on Monday. If you have

any questions about our structures for next year please see Trudie or me.

Parent Teacher Interviews

Parent teacher interviews will be conducted on Tuesday 19th and Wednesday 20th November between 3:30pm and 6:30pm. Interviews will last 10 minutes and we ask parents to please be on time. If you need longer to discuss something with a teacher, please make an alternative time to see them. These interviews are a valuable opportunity to discuss the progress your child has made during the year and celebrate their achievements.

2020 SCHOOL FEES REMINDER:

This year in our school fees we have included an excursion and incursion levy per child.

Early payment discounts applies to all families if payments are paid before Sunday 22nd

December 2019.

Payment for the 1st child will be $300.00 and $10.00 reduced fee for your 2nd ($220), 3rd

($210) and 4th child ($200).

SWIMMING REMINDER: Our school swimming program will commence in Term 4 on Monday 2nd December to Friday 13th December 2019 at King Swim, Clyde North.

Cost per student:

Foundation—Grade 5: $87.00

Grade 6: $20.00 (Reduced from Government Funding)

Permission forms are due on Friday 15th November 2019.

WHAT TO BRING

Day 1—We require snack, lunch and a drink in a disposable bag. Label the disposable bag and place in grade baskets. Please make sure hats are on heads and not packed away in bags. Sensible shoes must also be warn (no thongs)

General considerations - Clothing taken on outdoor or adventure programs should allow partici-

pants to be comfortable and protected in a range of conditions, regardless of the season. Clothing that is quick drying and resistant to damage is ideal. Clothing should fit the person well. Practi-cality is the emphasis, rather than, how fashionable clothes are! Unsuitable or ill-fitted clothing can impair student participation and may be hazardous.

Essential clothing and equipment all students must bring:

Other Clothes long pants/tracksuit pants windcheater shorts swimmers Handkerchiefs 2 pair sneakers (1 x old and 1 x good) long sleeve warm shirts T –shirts changes of underwear & socks for each day plus extra if canoeing or raft-making pyjamas Old cloths & footwear for canoeing and raft making - enclosed shoes or sandals. WORN DURING ACTIVITIES rain coat (essential for canoeing/raft-making activities)

Please note you are required to bring a pillow and a sleeping bag or sheets.

PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! can you make sure everything from jumpers down to the oldest pair of jocks is labelled with names clearly.

Electronic devises are not permitted. If a phone or iPod is to be used for the purpose of photography it is to be handed into staff on the morning of camp. These will then be distributed at activity times. At no time will they be permitted in the room. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure they are looked after and not damaged or lost. The school takes no responsibility.

LUGGAGE

Bags must be soft sided sausage type bags or sports bags (no hard case suitcases)

Maximum weight 12kgs (if you can’t lift in no one should)

Sleeping bag to be separate (not tied to anything)

Clearly name luggage

MEDICATION

Medication will be collected on Thursday 21st and Friday 22nd November – 8.30 – 9.30am &

3.00 – 4.00 PM in the staffroom by Mrs Esler (Trudie) & Mrs Mattingley (Jodie.)

It MUST be in a blister pack from the Chemist and Handed in at the allocated times. This is

anything that is taken daily including vitamins.

If your child becomes sick the night before and is given medicine by the doctor this is fine to hand

in to Trudie and Jodie on the morning of the camp.

Please do not take medication or forms to the office – it needs to go direct to Trudie and Jodie.

SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS

Cabins sleep 6 children

Children will choose 3 children they would like to share a cabin with – we will guarantee

they will have at least one of those in a cabin with them.

HOME SWEET HOME

We will be arriving back at school at 3.15.

Please ensure that the carpark remains clear for the buses. Plenty of parking is available over at

the church.


Nude Food Day Champions for week 3 & 4

Nude Food Day history was made in weeks 3 as we had two grades tie for the title of Nude Food

Champion. Congratulations to Grade FVP and Grade 5A.

It seems like Grade FVP are unstoppable when it comes to bringing Nude Food to school as well as they

were the Champions, in their own right, for week 4 as well. Well done FVP, you are setting wonderful

example for the rest of the school to follow.

So the question remains, can anyone better the efforts of Grade FVP when it comes to

bringing Nude Food to school? Can your grade “Win the Bin” next week???

Please remember that every Tuesday this term will be a

Nude Food Day. We encourage you to send your children

to school with a reusable lunch box such as a Tupperware

container (no zip-lock bags or cling film) and zero plastic

packaging (e.g. chip, popcorn or biscuit packets, muesli

bar wrappers, lolly wrappers). Anything you can do to

help reduce the amount of plastic being brought to school

is greatly appreciated.

BUNNINGS HELP WANTED!

We require URGENT helpers for our school’s Bunnings BBQ Fundraiser at Clyde.

Can you spare 1 or 2 hours to help on Saturday 2nd November 2019.

All funds raised will go towards new computers for the school.

Model Aircraft Fundraiser Twice a year our school has the opportunity to raise funds for the school by organising a BBQ along with a small cake stall for the Pakenham and District Aircraft Radio Control Society (PandDARCS). We are looking for volunteers to help cook the BBQ on the day as well as help with donations for the cake stall. The next fundraiser will be on Sunday 10th November from 8am to 3:30pm. Funds raised will be going towards new computers for our students.

COLOUR RUN EXPLOSION




Dear Parent/Guardian(s), Free vision screening is being offered by the Koo Wee Rup Lions Club in conjunction with the Lions Eye Health Program - Australia for all students at our school. Over 80% of what children learn is processed through their eyes. Untreated eye conditions can affect a child’s learning ability and self-esteem. It is estimated 1 in 5 children in Australia have undetected vision problems. Screening tests can help identify children who may require further eye review/testing. Screening will be available on: Friday November 15

th 2019 for students in

Foundation, Grade 1, Grade 2 and Grade 6 – all other Grades will be tested in February 2020. Consent forms will be sent out on Thursday, please return the form by Friday November 1

st if you would like your child to participate.

Will be on each Friday (unless otherwise advised)

Will be pre-order. Each Wednesday, in the newsletter, there will be an order form which will need to be returned, with payment, to the school by no later than the following Tuesday morning at 9am. No late orders will be accepted as we will be ordering food on the Tuesday each week.

Will cost $5 per order (unless otherwise advised for special Meal Deals). This includes a main and a treat. You may order an extra main, however we only allow 1 treat per child. You can also ex-clude the treat or order the treat only.

Payment can be made at the office or given to your child’s teacher.

If your child requires gluten free or has an allergy, please let us know and we can try to accommodate so they don’t miss out.

2019 Koo Wee Rup Music On the Grass

Cardinia Primary School—School Choir will be performing at the Koo Wee Rup Music Festival On the Grass at 1:15pm.
