The Border Times May 2016 (2)

At the Northeast Border Terrier Club last weekend in Salem CT the possibility of our hosting the BTCA Specialty in 2020 was met with a goodly amount of enthusiasm. A committee was formed to begin brainstorming for the event, including Barb Dalane, Deb Lawton, Linda and John Parker, Ellen Redman and last but by no means least Ray land Ginger Scott. Barb Dalane is forming a Yahoo group to gather and share ideas and information about this important event. If you would like to join the group please send an email to Barb Dalane at [email protected].

What with Border Terriers 2020 underway in the UK to be held tentatively May 1st through May 4th it will be an exciting time to host a Specialty.

President's Message

First, I want to thank Ellen for all her work for the club. I am very glad she decided to take on the office of Vice President. I also want to thank Holly and Linda for their work for the club. It will make for a smooth transition. I was glad to see so many friends at the meeting at the Windham Kennel Club and hope to see all of you at the Putnam Kennel Club meeting in July.

I am excited with the response for a committee to research hosting a national specialty in 2019 or 2020. If you are interested in participating with the committee, please email Barbara Dalane. [email protected] The committee is in the process of forming a yahoo group for discussions.

A big thank you goes out to Theo Congdon for taking on the position of Supported Entry Coordinator. This will relieve Holly of some of the work involved and help the club get all the supported entries organized. Theo will also handle the communication with Jane Stephenson, Louise Traska, and Merris Williams, our trophy chairs. (Thank you, ladies). We are going back to Wildwood in Jan. 2017. We'll have a winter meeting and luncheon. Theo will keep us posted with details.

If anyone has an idea or suggestion, don't hesitate to contact me.

Respectfully submitted,Ann SteinbacherPresident

From the Editor, This newsletter is a major form of communication between members, the more you contribute the more interesting it will be. With that in mind and because the number of members who get to shows or meeting is just a small fraction of the total membership it would be really great to have more participation. This club is not just about conformation, our dogs are companions first, and photos that show our dogs relaxing and sharing out lives are welcome at any time. If you're going to an event take along your camera and get some candid images to send me, please!! Thanks, Jean Clark, [email protected] or [email protected]
