Camp

On Monday morning we farewelled Mrs Lawrence, Mrs Allum, Miss Michetti,

Mrs Sipione, Mr Chand and 70 year 4,5 and 6 students as they left for their 3

day camp to Milson Island. They were all very excited and we are sure they will

have a great time. They will return on Wednesday afternoon. I have included

some pictures of Milson Island below.

Stage 1 books

Last term all stage 1 classes wrote stories and created a book from these stories in library lessons with Mrs Rajapakse. She has since had these published, and the books are held in the library if you would like to take a look and order your

own copy. You can also view the books at:

Every child in Stage1 has their own illustrated page. The price on the website is in US$, if you are keen to place an order, please see Mrs Rajapakse as she is able

to order at a discounted price.

Parking in staff carpark and driveway

This is a reminder that we ask that parents DO NOT park in the staff car park or

use the car park driveway to drop off or pick up their children. Not only is this

unsafe for children, it causes major traffic congestion as staff from school and

OOSH are trying to use the carpark. We also ask that parents follow the street

signs and DO NOT drop their children off in the bus bay. Thank you for helping to

keep our kids safe

Breakfast Club

Breakfast Club will be running every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday

mornings from 8:30am at no cost to students. Muesli bars, fruit drinks and jelly

cups are available for students to choose from.

Presentation Day

Presentation Day will be held for all students K-6 on Wednesday 11th December

2013.

The 3-6 Assembly will be held at 9:30am and the

K-2 Assembly will begin at 12pm.

2014 Classing

In the last weeks of this year, my staff and I will begin looking at 2014 class

placements for students. If you would like to discuss the needs of your child, I

encourage you to book a time to talk with me as soon as possible.

Teachers have not been assigned to grades yet (I cannot do this until numbers

are finalised in early 2014), however I am more than willing to meet with you

regarding individual requirements should you so wish.

2014 Prefects

We are currently beginning the process of electing our new school leaders for

2014. Year 5 students are invited to self nominate or nominate other students.

Information was sent home last week regarding this process.

Students from Years 2-5 will be asked to listen to speeches and vote for

candidates later this term.

Prairiewood High School Multicultural concert

On Tuesday 3 December, the School Dance Group will be performing their item

“Jai Ho” at the Prairiewood HS matinee and evening performances. Notes will be

sent home shortly.

A small number of audience tickets will also be available for the matinee on a first

in basis.

Kindergarten Orientation

Kindergarten orientation started last week. It was great to see so many smiling

faces ready to begin their school life. We have 2 more sessions over the next two

Thursdays. These are “Kid only” sessions,

where parents can drop off their children and

pick them up at 10:30, or parents are

welcome to stay for a coffee and a chat in

the hall if they wish. It also not too late to still

enrol.If you or someone you know has a

child turning 5 this year or before 31 July

2014, please contact the office on 96040922

to arrange enrolment.

Class in FocusClass in Focus 3L

Students in 3L are learning to

explore instrumental and environmental sound sources through listening and

experimenting. They are also learning to perform through singing, playing and

moving, demonstrating an understanding of the music. Students are playing

different musical instruments and observing how different sounds can be

produced. They are learning to maintain a

steady beat to perform a rhythmic ostinato.
