2018-19 New OSC OFFICERS
Commodore:Bob Cole

Treasurer:Jan Cole

Ahoy OSC Members, Our Commodore, Bob Cole, is on a pleasure trip to Alaska with his wife, Jan. Since the dog sled service has been curtailed recently for the lack of snow, we are taking this opportunity to ad-lib for Bob, whose Commodore’s Comments have forthwith been withheld forth, so’s to speak. The first page of this September’s Newsletter starts with an August sunset by Jan Schumacher which commemorates the end of summer and hence a new beginning for our OSC sailing season ( as you may have noticed our social shenanigans in the form of Buccaneer Dinners have not been curtailed for lack of wind, snow or RAIN ). One observation is that mentioning RAIN brings to mind that the lake level is very favorable for launching sailboats …. and if T.H.E. Admiral is displeased with that last comment he should be pleased to know that there is plenty of water left over for making a bumper crop of “Nectar of the Gods” for guiding our new season’s endeavors. So be sure to check out in this September edition our comprehensive Calendar for 2018 Fall and 2019 Spring which has been recently hammered out, taking into account many factors of scheduling flotsam and jetsam . Bob and Jan will be back with us soon to join us on the water and in the pubs. So as Bob would say: “Wishing fair winds and good sailing” …….. Comments by the Newsletter staff

Watch for the Evite !
The Ocala Sailing Club held its monthly Buccaneer Night at The World of Beer on August 2nd. There were 20 members in attendance.
The World of Beer was selected by the OBRS in an attempt to regain favor with T.H.E. Admiral out in Yacht Town, Nebraska. Hopefully, he was pleased with the
volume of beer and other libations consumed! The World of Beer made it easy with its extensive selection of domestic, imported, and local craft beers. For those having difficulty deciding, or just wanting to sample some of the many offerings, a “Paddle”
of 4 small samples could be ordered. After sampling each, and choosing favorites, larger glasses WERE ordered!Surely! T.H.E Admiral noticed!!
Finally... good food, good beer, and the camaraderie of our fellow sailors made for an enjoyable evening!!
Those on vacation or not able to attend were certainly missed!

Below is a recent photo of the ramps at Carney Island ParkIf you haven’t been down to the launching areas on Lake Weir or Sunset Harbor, this will give you an idea of how the generous rains have increased the level of the water. Quite an improvement over the last several years. See you soon on the Water!
