PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE: Dear Parents/Carers, Welcome back to Term 3. Our school P&C can be congratulated on their substantial contribution to our school playground. The WEB, as we have named it, has been a huge hit with our students.

At the end of term 2 we celebrated NAIDOC Week at our whole school assembly. What an impressive effort from all of our students. Many thanks to Michell Scott and Marcus Mundy for their organisation. Belinda McDowell donated an original painting of hers to the school in recognition of NAIDOC Week. The painting and its story will be on display in the Office area in the coming weeks.

AFTER SCHOOL - CROSSING THE ROAD WITH SAFETY

All Parents/Carers please consider the safety of our students/your children when dropping off and picking up from school. Unfortunately a few dangerous habits are creeping in, with some parents expecting their children to weave through buses to cross the road at the rear of the school to meet them as well as other parents asking their children to cross at random spots in front of the school and not using the crossing. Teachers are on Duty after school and it is their Duty to ensure all students leave the school safely, either onto buses, at the crossing and when meeting parents/carers on pick up.

PLEASE TAKE CARE

PARENT-TEACHER interviews are scheduled for next week. If you haven’t booked a timeslot with your child’s teacher please do so ASAP through the Office. This is a good opportunity to discuss your child’s academic progress with their teacher. Carolyn Nugent PRINCIPAL

School Stream is a mobile school app that delivers information in real time directly to parents/carers on their mobile devices. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED Volunteers are needed for 1st Wednesday of month and 3rd Friday of month. Also one day a month on the 5th Friday. Canteen duties are between 9am and 2pm. Job sharing is another way of helping. We will be doing prep work on a day to be confirmed. If anyone can help it would be wonderful.

LOST PROPERTY

We are seeing a large number of unlabelled clothing, both school uniform and non-school uniform, as well as other items coming up

to lost property at the Office.

Just a reminder to all parents to label all school items - jumpers,

drink bottles, lunch boxes etc.

Otherwise it becomes a very expensive exercise for parents who

are having to constantly replace these items.

If your child accidentally takes home an item that belongs to another student please simply return it to either the class teacher

or the Office.

Thanks for your assistance in this matter.

New Play Equipment The new play equipment was installed over the holidays. This new equipment was purchased entirely with money raised over a number of years by the P&C. Thank you for your support of P&C fundraisers over the years. Southern Phones also donated over $5,000 towards

the purchase and installation and we would like to thank them for their kind donation. Keep an eye out in the newsletter for details of the grand opening.

Zone Athletics Carnival The P&C will be running the canteen at the zone athletics carnival and we will need helpers. The date is the 12

th of August, if you are able to help that day please text Rod

on 0410529517 and put it in your diary. This will be a massive day with schools from all over the Bega Valley attending and we will need a lot of volunteers, both on the day and prior to for food prep. School Stream App The P&C is very supportive of the school’s move to start using the School Stream App. You can download this App for free at the ITunes store or the equivalent App store for non-Apple phones. The School will use this App to get information like newsletters, bus breakdowns, absent notes, excursion details etc out to parents. Once you have downloaded the App you will be able to sign up to Bega Valley Public School and get all the alerts in real time as they are posted.
