Band Notes Next Friday the 30th of October, the Junior and Concert Bands will be travelling to the Riverina Conservatorium of Music to participate in rehearsals for the Combined School Bands performance. Unlike last year, the rehearsals will be finished by 2.45pm and students will return to school; however; there is a change to the performance venue and time this year. The Riverina Conservatorium has been approached by the Civic Theatre to provide entertainment for Twilight by the Lagoon. As a result, our students have been asked to perform, both Junior and Concert band students are asked to participate. The concert will take part at the Lagoon amphitheatre and students are asked to be at the venue no later than 6:30pm. This event as a part of the Combined Schools Performance. This is an extraordinary opportunity for our bands to showcase their talents to the public. I hope all of our students can take part. A permission note and more information will be sent home later this week.

Interschool Touch Competition Congratulations to the students in Years 5 and 6 who participated in the Interschool Stage 3 Touch Football Competition in Term 3. It was highly successful with all students displaying terrific sportsmanship, team encouragement and great skills! Unfortunately the weeks that were cancelled due to wet weather will not be played this term. Therefore, a credit of $10 will be issued to those students. Your class teacher and the office will hold a record for future Term 4 payments.

Congratulations Congratulations and best of luck to Lily Stein, Lindsay Mayfield and Ruby Reilly who will be representing Kooringal Public School at the Festival of Choral Music in Sydney next week. The three singers will be performing at the Opera House with other members of the Riverina Central Choir. Good luck girls!!

WAGGA WAGGA FILM FESTIVAL Congratulations to the two KPS Tech teams who had their short films, ‘Our Children, Our Future’ and ‘The Future is Bright, Bright is the Future’ selected to be shown in the Wagga Waggafest Film Festival. An amazing number of parents and students attended the evening last week at the Wagga Civic Theatre. The students spent a lot of their own time writing scripts, songs, filming and editing around the theme for this year’s festival, The Best Is Yet To Come. ‘The Future is Bright, Bright is the Future’ won the overall award for Best Original Score. Mayor Mr Rod Kendall presented the cheque for $500 and trophy, congratulating the students on their creativity and acting skills. Jaime Esler, Lily Stein, Lara Rossiter, Amelia Caller and Molly Moorby wrote the lyrics for the song, ‘Change’ . Students then sang the track and also performed the music. What talented students! Both films are now available to be viewed at the Wagga Waggafest website. It is then up to the public to vote for their favourite film and a prize of $500. Mrs Kerry Fitzpatrick Lily Stein: It was really exciting to win this award. We hope the money will go towards helping students to create even better films for years to come. Alifaleti Mone: Playing the guitar with the singers was lots of fun. Going on stage was very exciting. Amelia Caller; It’s amazing to have won this award two years in a row. Being on stage and being interviewed was a thrill but nerve-racking.

Congratulations Ebony Lewis

Congratulations to Ebony Lewis who finished in the top four in Australia, in this years Origin Energy Little Big Idea competition. Ebony recently travelled to Sydney to present her ideas at the Powerhouse Museum in front of a packed auditorium and a panel of judges. She pitched her idea perfectly, and was only just pipped for the first place prize, of a trip to NASA. Well done Ebony, we're proud of your accomplishments, as we are of all our students no matter how little or BIG their ideas might be. Mr Kerr
