COMENIUS REPORT AND NEWSLETTER AFTER THE FIRST YEAR OF THE PROJECT

ACTIVITIES IN 2012-2013:

The project is integrated into school activities and in the following subjects:GEOGRAPHY:- students fill out the online questionnaire, followed by a presentation of the project to the students (with the questionnaire we examined the level of cyberbullying among students of all partner schools and we compared the results among partner schools and countries, including other types of violence among young people and the level of awareness about the (un) safe Internet use).- Travelogue presentation of Palma de Mallorca (traveling by bike)- Connection to the curriculum for geography of the 9th grade (Slovenia) - Making a PowerPoint presentation of Domžale and Slovenia (connection to the local area). Students presented the main nature and social characteristics of Slovenia and the nature and social characteristics of the local landscape and interesting facts connecting with the everyday and cultural life in Domžale.Content of the curriculum of geography covered in the presentation:Location of the Republic of Slovenia, the Slovenian ethnic territory. Slovenia in Europe at the crossroads of Central Europe and the Balkans. Slovenia at the junction of the Alps, the Dinarides, the Pannonian Basin and the Adriatic Sea. Mountain, littoral and lowland world. Relief features of Slovenia. Relations with its neighbors.

ENGLISH:- Descriptions, presentations of pupils in English, preparation of the programme- filling out worksheets (purpose: learning vocabulary about the Internet, computer and technology, the Safe use of the Internet and cyberbullying)- Playing online educational games (theme: awareness about web violence, the safe use of the Internet)

- Correspondence with peers in English- lessons about the use of computer technology and interactive whiteboard in the classroom)INDIVIDUAL ASSISTANCE TO STUDENTS:- Attendance at lectures and use of the computer in individual learning

ICT IN THE LIBRARY:Evaluation and verification of the quality of websites used by students in terms of authorship / responsibility, precision / accuracy, objectivity, currency and coverage / scope - Presentation at the project’s meeting in Slovenia

4TH GRADE:Parents Meeting: Safety in ICT, cooperation with Safe.si (theme: a brief presentation of current topics in the field of internet security: Abuse of the internet, Protect your computer, home network and the data on it, a realistic attitude towards the virtual world, and guided conversation with parents)Class lessons: talks about the safe use of the internet in terms of tracking operational and process-development objectives of the ICT cross-curricular themes in the second cycle.

5TH GRADE: SOCIETY- Learn about other cultures, which are part of the curriculum, especially in the topic of "People and Society" in which students learn the following objectives:• cognitive, emotional, social competences and skills (logical and critical thinking, creativity, effective strategies for resolving issues, etc..) and lifelong learning strategies (digital literacy)• recognize the importance of fundamental human rights and children's rights, duties and responsibilities,• develop an understanding of the importance of cooperation between people; learn about the methods and formscooperation, competition and conflict resolution,• learn about the social differences between people, inclusion and exclusion of particular groups,• examine how technological and social development impacts the environment and the quality of life;• develop a positive attitude towards the country of Slovenia and the European Union (EU).

5TH GRADE: SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGYpreparation for the project meeting: - right of children to a healthy lifestyle, which also includes fruit and vegetable consumption- Preparation of fruit for a fruit salad- Learn about our country's fruit (connection of science and art of teaching)

CLASS LESSONS:- filling out online surveys and conversations before / during and after filling out the surveys

- getting to know the partner countries-topics discussed as part of the learning about the environment, art (drawing, painting, learning about flags) and Slovenian (learn greetings of partners’ countries).

CLUBS/VARIOUS VOLUNTARY ACTIVITIES- Children's and Youth Choir (preparation for the performance of pupils during the project visits, participation in the cultural programme in Slovenian, English, Turkish and Spanish)- debate club (debates statement: "The school should make greater use of ICT technology"), and at the same time a debate workshop for novice learners of all participating countries in the English language) March 2013, project meeting in Slovenia.- Folklore club (preparation for the performance and the performance in the cultural programme with two points).- Volunteering: Students involved in learning of e-literacy and basic computer skills, including internet and safety hazards).- Cycling test (preparation for presentation in English to our partners during the project meeting, the use of computers and the internet in the theoretical section).

THE COMMUNITY OF STUDENTS:Community School students organized a competition about the project logo. The logo should be designed based on the themes and objectives of the project. In the school competition three logos were selected, part of the subject of the school logo was chosen for the final logo project, which consists of logos selected in all three countries. The logo is used on documents related to the project and on the website of the project.

HOMEWORK: - Analysis of videos (excessive computer use)- Filling out worksheets- Playing computer games

CULTURE DAY:the 8th graders had a day of activities on the topic of children's and human rights in the context of children's rights and duties on the Internet, students celebrated the World Day of Safety on the Internet by making posters and slogans, which are displayed in the Comenius corner (available on the project blog).

COMPUTER NETWORKS, TEXT EDITING:- Lecture and workshops in collaboration with the Slovenian school Oblačna šola (theme: The basic concept of the Internet (friendly "and" unfriendly "applications, unwanted applications and mail) Social networks and social engineering (passwords, data and scams on the Internet)

MODERN EATING HABITS:- Making hearts of dough as a gift for guests at the project meeting

- Presentations on the topics: a description of the school (video presentation - the project meeting in Slovenia, March 2013), the presentation and analysis of the results of an online survey for students and parents about the safe use of the Internet, computer use and web-based violence - the project meeting in Slovenia, March 2013 , the first ideas designing the booklet called "e-Behaviour Code", which will include rules of behaviour on the Internet (rights, responsibilities, guidelines of safe use) - Project meeting in Slovenia, April 2013, and Spain, June 2013): presentations are accessible to users of the project (online survey, conceptual design manual, video presentation)- Exhibition events posters in Comenius corner (theme: the safe use of the Internet) publications are available to students, parents, teachers and the local public- celebrating Safer Internet Day (February 12, 2013) by making posters on the topic of the Safe use of the Internet, which were exhibited in the Comenius Corner: publications are available to students, parents, teachers and the local public- Discussions and activities during class hours and other subjects - Topic: Dangers on the Internet - cyberbullying, with activities and feedback that create a brief report of each class
