Project description

Once the reinorced concrete basement

structure was created, Newton 508

was ftted to all earth retaining walls,

terminating behind the Newton

Basedrain rebated into the structural

slab. Newton 508 was also used as the

oor membrane ollowed by insulation

and screed. The internal block work was

erected in ront o the Newton 508. The

Basedrain drainage conduit terminated

into Newton Titan-Pro White Pumping

Systems to evacuate any water ingress.

Water ingress was signifcant in

this property, so an adhered tanking

membrane would have been completely

ineective. Newton System 500 was ideal

as it could manage the water ingress,

and was installed quickly meaning the

project was completed within tight

timescales.

As a part o this 50 million development, a Newton Specialist Basement

Contractor was commissioned to design and install a robust and cost eective

water management solution to our large basements areas used or habitable

accommodation in accordance with BS 8102:2009.

Project description

The Newton System 500 waterproofng

system was designed and installed by a

Newton Specialist Basement Contractor

with Newton 508 Mesh chosen as the

waterproofng membrane. The use o

Newton 508 Mesh meant that costly

and damaging surace preparation was

not required. I required, the system

could be removed to restore the vaults

to their original condition in accordance

with Listed Building requirements.

The Victorian Bird Beak Archeswere

sympathetically waterprooed whilst

retaining the original eatures o this

historic property.

The vaults are now ully reurbished and

the space used as a rest area with luxury

bar giving a habitable area to Grade 3

o the environmental table within

bs8102:2009. Following the success o this

project, our nsbc Contractor was

commissioned to complete a second area

to the same specifcation.

This Grade I listed structure had a labyrinth o unused basement areas. With space

at a premium, the courts looked to converting part o the brick basement areas

into habitable space. Newton System 500 was quick to install and sympathetic to

the structure, making it the ideal waterproofng solution.

the Newton System 500 would not be suitable.

Such details include lit shats, at sots and

externally to retained slabs and ring beams.

System 200 Deck and Roofng

A complete range o externally applied

elastomeric high perormance liquid membranes

and ancillaries or balconies, terraces, at and

inverted roos, podium decks, car parks and

reservoirs. This new portolio o seamless and

robust liquid membranes gives specifers and

specialist waterproofng contractors a quick and

cost eective solution to protect external areas

rom water ingress.

System 300 Horizontal Drainage

Newtons range o hdpp and hdpe horizontal

drainage membranes provide comprehensive

protection o primary waterproofng layers such

as Newton 201 RubberFlex. In addition they can

act as a fltration layer and also provide reservoir

capabilities or specifers who are designing green

or tur roo projects.

System 400 Vertical Drainage

Newton System 400 comprises a range o

composite membranes that include a dimpled

core o hdpp or hdpe together with a flter

abric that is attached to the core during the

manuacturing process. When placed to the

retaining wall these membranes protect the

primary waterproofng membrane rom impact

and water pressure, diverting water down to a

perorated land drain or removal.

System 500 Cavity Drain Waterproofng

The proessionals waterproofng system o

choice, Newton System 500 is an internally applied

waterproofng system based upon our range o

cavity drain membranes, drainage conduits and

sophisticated pumping and control systems.

Unlike conventional tanking, Newton System

System 600 Flooring Membranes

Newton System 600 is a range o hdpe and

rom the substrate preventing damage due to

substrate movement and cracking. Newton

damp proo membranes can be installed over

existing and greenconcrete. In addition our

ooring membranes are a popular solution or

dealing with inherent hydrocarbons or groundgas problems. Newton ooring membranes can

accommodate a variety o fnishes including

timber oors, screeds and direct tiles.

System 700 Liquid Applied Floor Coatings

System 700 is a range o liquid applied protective

and decorative internal ooring products.

These products are ast curing and available in a

variety o colours, and are typically used or the

reurbishment and protection o commercial and

domestic oors.

System 800 Damp Proofng

Newton System 800 is a range o bba approved

damp proo membranes and ancillaries which are

quick and clean to install oering a permanent

solution or damp proofng walls. The meshed

membranes provide a frm key and impermeable

barrier on damp or deteriorating surace ready

or plaster, render or dot & dab plasterboard. The

un-meshed Newton 803 is used where insulation

requirements dictate the use o a timber or steel

rame ready or plasterboard.

System 900 Liquid Primers and Sealers

Newtons high perormance range o liquid

applied products are used in conjunction with

System 200 and 700 liquid membranes. They act

as priming agents or a variety o substrates prior

to the application o our specialist waterproofng

and ooring membranes.

Sump and pump

Newtons have an extensive range o submersible

pumps and pumping ancillaries. We supply the

highest quality pumps available in each class, or

the control o clean ground water, grey water,

euent or sewage. Newtons can also provide a

1 Wall Membrane

Choose an appropriate wall membrane

to suit your wall fnish. In this example,

Newton 508 has been chosen or

the walls and is shown with both

independent metal rame dry-lining and

concrete block wall coverings.

2 Drainage System

Choose your preerred method o water

collection. Here Newton Basedrain is sat

above the slab adjacent to a s pacer o

50mm o closed cell insulation.

3 Sump System and Pumps

Choose the most suitable method or

removing the water. Here a Titan-Pro

sump system collects water rom the

Basedrain drainage system via two

connections o Newton Floordrain. The

pumps would be chosen depending on

actors such as the pumping head and

the type o water collected.

4 Floor Membrane

Choose the correct oor membrane or

your fnishes and oor loadings. Newton
