LIGHTNING, WILD ALSO LOCK UP POSTSEASON SPOTSThe Lightning and Wild also clinched postseason berths despite suffering losses: * The Lightning clinched their third consecutive playoff berth by virtue of the Bruinslosing to the Hurricanes. * The Wild clinched their fourth consecutive playoff berth by virtue of the Avalanchelosing to the Predators in regulation. AS TEAMS JOCKEY FOR POSITIONINGFour of the Western Conference’s eight playoff teams posted wins on Tuesday as theybattle for positioning: * Jonathan Toews registered 12—3 to lift the Blackhawks to their fifth win in their lastsix outings and past the 100point milestone for the third straight season. Toews set acareer high with his fourth shorthanded goal of the campaign (t2nd in the NHL) andalso extended his point streak to five games (25—7). Andrew Ladd (20—2) added histhird multigoal performance of 201516, two of which have come in 17 contests sincerejoining Chicago (84—12). * Kris Versteeg tied the game with 35.1 seconds remaining in regulation and Jeff

Carter scored 40 seconds into overtime to help the Kings set a franchise record withtheir 47th victory of the season. Carter, who has points in four straight (42—6), pickedup his eighth career overtime goal and third of 201516. Elias notes that there havebeen 34 tying goals scored in the final minute of regulation this season; those teamshave gone on to win 26 times. * James Reimer stopped all 29 shots he faced, including 24 over the final two periods,to guide the Sharks to their Leagueleading 28th road win of the season (28103, 59points). Per Elias, only the 200506 Red Wings (3173, 65 points) have collected moreroad victories in one campaign in NHL history. Reimer improved to 620 with threeshutouts since joining San Jose; prior to the trade, his most recent blank sheet came onOct. 29, 2013 at EDM (w/ TOR). * Craig Smith scored the tiebreaking goal early in the third period to help the Predatorssnap a fourgame skid (031) and end the Avalanche’s hopes of making the playoffs.MUSTSEE: Filip Forsberg posted 11—2, including a highlightreel, betweenthelegsgoal. He has 32 goals this season, one shy of the franchise record established by JasonArnott in 200809. PANTHERS WRAP UP ATLANTIC DIVISION TITLEThe Panthers scored three unanswered goals to pick up their fourth consecutive victoryand clinch their second division title in franchise history (also 201112: SoutheastDivision). * At 46259 (101 points), the Panthers reached the 100point milestone for the first timein franchise history and also extended their record for wins in one season. * Aleksander Barkov (56—11) and Jonathan Huberdeau (64—10) both extendedtheir point streaks to a careerhigh seven games. Barkov scored 10 seconds after theopening faceoff, matching a club record set on Oct. 17, 1996 at COL (JohanGarpenlov). * Roberto Luongo (32 SV) earned his 34th win of the season, one shy of the franchiserecord he established in 200506. Luongo also posted his 435th career victory to movewithin two of tying Jacques Plante (437) for sixth place in NHL history. PENGUINS, RANGERS KEEP PACE IN METROPOLITANBoth the Penguins and Rangers – the No. 2 and 3 seeds in the Metropolitan Division,respectively – registered comeback wins to keep pace in the race for home ice: * The Penguins scored five unanswered goals – two each from Sidney Crosby and CarlHagelin – to pick up their seventh consecutive victory overall as well as their seventhstraight win on the road. Crosby, who hascollected at least one point in 19 of his last 20 outings (1018—28), extended his pointstreak to seven games (44—8). * The Rangers scored three unanswered goals – including the tying and winningmarkers 2:13 apart in the third period – to earn their second consecutive win on theheels of a threegame skid (021). Derek Stepan recorded 21—3, including his careerhigh 22nd goal of the season. He has compiled 68—14 in his past eight contests,including both of his threepoint games in 201516 (also March 23 vs. BOS: 12—3). POINT TAKENBoth the Jets and Hurricanes posted narrow victories to put a dent in the hopes of theirrespective opponents: * Marko Dano tied the game with 3:46 remaining in regulation and Blake Wheelerscored at 3:07 of overtime to lift the Jets past the Ducks, preventing Anaheim frommaintaining its onepoint lead atop the Pacific Division. * Boston native Noah Hanifin scored the lone goal in the shootout to power theHurricanes over the Bruins, leaving his hometown team on the outside of the playoffpicture in the Eastern Conference. KARLSSON CONTINUES SENSATIONAL SEASON . . .Senators captain Erik Karlsson (10—1) became the first defenseman in franchisehistory to reach the 80point milestone in one season (1664—80). * Elias adds that Karlsson became just the second defenseman to hit the 80pointmilestone for any team in the last 20 years. The other: Nicklas Lidstrom with the RedWings in 200506 (also 1664—80). * Karlsson, who has spent his entire career with the Senators, picked up his 100th NHLgoal – one shy of the franchise record for a defenseman, held by Wade Redden (101). . . . MORE MILESTONES & BENCHMARKS* Avalanche forward Jarome Iginla (10—1) scored his 610th career goal to tie BobbyHull for 16th place in NHL history. * Flames captain Mark Giordano (11—2) posted his 300th NHL point. * Panthers defenseman Brian Campbell became the 27th active player to reach the1,000game milestone. He also appeared in his 374th consecutive contest since joiningthe team, a franchise record (at any point).

HOT HANDS* Jets forward Blake Wheeler (10—1) extended his point streak to a careerhigh ninegames (66—12). Teammate Mark Scheifele (01—1) extended his point streak to eightgames (47—11), matching a career high established March 114 (84—12). * Penguins defenseman Kris Letang (02—2) extended his assist/point streak to sevengames (29—11), matching a career high established April 1127, 2013 (28—10). * Sabres forward Ryan O’Reilly (43—7) and Sharks forward Joe Thornton (16—7)both extended their point streaks to five games. LOOSE PUCKSForward Jack Eichel registered 11—2 to lead the Sabres to their third consecutivevictory. Eichel, who posted his 12th multipoint game of the season, ranks secondamong rookies with 2430—54 overall . . . Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin (20—2)notched his Leagueleading 46th and 47th goals of the season . . . Blackhawks forwardPatrick Kane (11—2) moved 14 points ahead in the race for the Art Ross Trophy (4458—102), while teammate Artemi Panarin (02—2) posted his third consecutive multipoint game (37—10) . . . Penguins forward Patric Hornqvist (11—2) scored for thefourth straight game (41—5), while teammate Nick Bonino (03—3) added his fifthcareer threepoint performance . . . Capitals forward Marcus Johansson (03—3)matched a career high for assists/points in one game, while teammate T.J. Oshie (12—3) recorded his fourth threepoint performance of the season . . . Penguins goaltenderMatthew Murray (27 SV) improved to 821 in his first 11 NHL appearances (1.98 GAA,.930 SV%, 1 SO), including six consecutive wins.
