Tēnā tātou katoa As you will be aware the Prime Minister announced on Tuesday 11th August in her press conference, New Zealand would enter Alert Level 2 restrictions, as of 12.00 noon 12th August 2020. This has meant that we as a school, have had to implement hygiene and contract tracing processes. If you do enter the school, please report straight to the office to complete our entry procedures. We expect the Prime Minister to update everyone on Friday as to the status of our national Alert Level. If we are to move to Alert Level 3, this will mean that school will only be open for the children of essential workers. As a precaution please take the time to make arrangements for your students over the next few days eg technology equipment to continue schooling from home and/or care if needed. We will keep you updated when we receive further information from the Ministry of Education. Thank you to all of the parents that attended the Academic Coaching interviews held at the end of July. These were very useful with good learning conversations taking place. Attendance at these was also up significantly with an overall parent attendance of 73%. Parent Teacher Meetings are being planned before the end of this term. This will enable whānau to meet with subject teachers to discuss student progress and next steps, as well as answering questions about subjects to assist with decisions for the 2021 Option selection. Meeting with the form teacher will enable an overall discussion of goals for the remainder of this year as well as overall option selections for next year and beyond. Further information about booking times will be coming out soon. Learning continues to be a focus and as part of this, the senior practice examinations are taking place in the week beginning on Monday, August 24. As well as the examinations, a number of classes are offering workshop sessions, to work on internal assessment tasks. The timetable for this week has been published and is on the school website.
#9 14th August 2020
Finally the school photos are due to take place on Monday and it is important all students have full, correct uniform.

Diary Dates Dean’s Report Ashleigh Sage—Year 10 Dean
Halfway through Year 10 already, time is passing
by very quickly. Firstly, I would like to say how
proud I am of the Year 10 students and the effort
they have put into this year so far. We have had a
few obstacles to overcome and they have put their
heads down and worked hard to ensure they are
keeping up to date and on top of everything.
As we move into the second half of the year it is
really important to start thinking about their futures
and what subjects they will be taking for NCEA.
Now is the time to start having conversations
about options and pathways with your child.
In Health this term, we are working with our
careers advisor, Julie Chiaroni, and looking at
different career paths and the subjects to take at
school to follow that path. The 2021 option
booklets will be out later in the term. If you have
any questions regarding this, please do not
hesitate to get in contact with myself or the form
teacher of your child.
