All of their products are formulated by a published marine scientist who has been a passionate aquarium hobbyist for over 30 years. The range varies from trace elements, buffers, Media, vitamins and various amino acids to salt mixes for saltwater and freshwater aquariums. With very few exceptions, all raw materials utilized in Brightwell Aquatics products are over 99.9% pure (many are over 99.99% pure). All of our products are manufactured in our own production facility in Pennsylvania.

Dr. Timothy A. Hovanec is the founder of DrTim’s Aquatics, LLC and earned his Ph.D. studying nitrifying bacteria in aquaria that resulted in the discovery of several new species of ammonia- and nitrite-oxidizing bacteria. He holds over 13 US and foreign patents on these novel bacteria, their application to quickly establish new biofilters and ways to detect them. Prior to starting DrTim’s Aquatics, Dr. Hovanec was the Chief Science Officer for Aquaria, Inc. the parent company of Marineland Aquarium Products which included Aquarium System (Instant Ocean) and Perfect Mfg for nearly 17 years. Bali Aquarium was the first company commercially culturing corals in Indonesia, it all began in 2000 in the South of Bali, in a location famous for its white sand beaches called Nusa Dua. Ever since then Bali Aquarium kept on developing the techniques to bring more and more maricultured livestock to the hobby. From Soft corals, to Sponges, throught SPS and LPS corals. What we can’t culture we take great care of, with the most up to date husbandry techniques. We have an export facility located in the South of Bali, 2 collecting and stocking station located in Java and North Bali. We have 7 differents mariculture sites ; 6 of them around Bali and 1 in Java. Soon or later, we will mariculture all corals.
