“ I recently lost my job and health insurance and was so relieved you could help me get these important cancer screenings. I am grateful your program exists.

The Navigation Program focuses on barrier reduction and facilitating breast, cervical and colon cancer screenings for NEPA residents. The program exceeded its annual screening targets in 2013 through 2016. To date, the navigators have facilitated more than 2,500 cancer screenings. The long term impact of this initiative for the people of northeast Pennsylvania promises to be profound. Screening compliance can ease concerns and result in prevention/early detection for many participants. The program helps to reduce pain and suffering, increase effectiveness of treatment, lower costs to the community and ultimately increase the health and well being of our most vulnerable residents.

“With so much on my plate, working and caring for my family I don’t always take care of myself. Thank you for continuing to contact me to encourage me to get my screenings done. You are so caring and helpful.”

The Northeast Regional Cancer Institute is a nonprofit community-based agency serving seven counties in northeast Pennsylvania with offices located in Scranton and Wilkes-Barre. Focusing on surveillance, community
