Grace Notes
The book is broken into four
major sections: Entertainment &
Leisure, Morality & Ethics, Politics &
Activism, and Tragedy & Suffering.
Within each section is a series of
essays/chapters (20 in all) that deal
with a wide variety of relevant topics
including: “Christian Liberty and the
World of Entertainment,” “Issues
Related to Divorce and Remarriage,”
“Euthanasia, Suicide, and Capital
Punishment,” “Racism and
Reconciliation in Church and
Culture, “Illegal Immigration and
Border Control,” and “Responding
Rightly to Personal Hardship and
Trials”. I believe that you will find
this book to be an invaluable
resource for the issues we face
today.
So, please join our new study,
beginning Wednesday night,
September 14th at 6:15pm. The
books have been graciously
provided by the providence of God
and the faithfulness of His children at
Grace Baptist, so all you need to
bring is a Bible and lots of questions.
Also, this study is open to everyone,
so please invite your friends and
neighbors.
Summer is winding down, the
kids are back in school, the days
are getting shorter, and the choir is
back. It’s also time for a new
Wednesday Evening Small Group
Study. We are going to kick off
with the study of a really thought
provoking book, entitled “Right
Thinking in a World Gone Wrong,”
by John MacArthur.
The book begins with a bold
observation: “It is common in the
evangelical church today for
people to verbally acknowledge
that the Bible, as God’s Word, is
the final authority for both what
they believe and how they live.
Yet in reality, a clear connection
between that public confession
and personal conduct is rare.” It
then goes on to prove that the
Bible, a book finished nearly 2000
years ago, is the single greatest
source of truth in the world, and
that it still speaks truth into the
situations and problems we face in
our modern world today.
Spread the news! Our AWANA ministry starts up a brand new year very, very soon, and we
are super excited here at GBC!
Tell your friends all about it and join us on Wednesday, September 14th at 6pm for a special AWANA Kick-Off
and Ice Cream Party!
Each clubber will get to meet their AWANA leaders for the year and get a fun, brief taste of what the year will be like. Then we will end the night with an Ice Cream Social for the whole
family!!! This is an excellent ministry that teaches kids the gospel and God’s word in an
exciting and enjoyable way. Please invite your friends and neighbors for this fun event!
Flyers to share are available in the Hallway outside the Sanctuary, so let’s spread the
word.
Our AWANA Ministry has several clubs that are perfect for your child!
Cubbies (Pre K-Kindergarten) Sparks (Kindergarten-2nd Grade)
T&T (3rd Grade-6th Grade) Trek (7th Grade & Above)
Please contact Lena Howell, if you have any questions!
“What’s an AWANA?” Well, AWANA is an acronym that stands for “Approved Workmen Are Not
Ashamed.” This comes from the verse 2 Timothy 2:15 in the Scriptures. AWANA is also a fun and interactive ministry just for kids. We meet every
Wednesday at Grace Baptist Church at 6pm until 7:30pm. At Cubbies, we teach Pre-Schoolers about the Bible right to their level using fun and games. At Sparks, kids from grades K-2nd are introduced to memorizing Scripture and enjoying entertaining
games together. We also have our T&T Club. T&T stands for “Truth and Training” and this club hosts students from grades 3rd-6th. It’s a very special
club where the kids move forward more and more with memorizing and learning scripture in addition to hanging out and competing in exciting games at
recreation time. And last, but not least, is our newest club…TREK which is geared toward older
students in the 7th grade and up.

Announcements Because our Men’s Ministry Meeting will fall on Labor Day Weekend (next Sat., Sept. 3rd), we are going to have a Men’s Ministry Outing instead. We will meet at Stuart Family Restaurant for breakfast at 8:30am and afterwards we will head over to a private shooting range for a morning of guns and godly fellowship !
Hillcrest Baptist Church in Ridgeway has invited area churches to join them for a special service on Sunday, September 11th at 6pm, in order to pray for spiritual awakening and revival in our nation. This is a part of the national prayer movement Cry Out America, which occurs each Sept. 11th
(www.awakeningamerica.us).
Wednesday Fellowship meals will resume on Sept. 14th. The meal will be prepared; so come and join us at 5:15pm, and stay for the rest of the Wednesday Evening Activities.
Isaiah’s Bells will begin practices on Wednesday evenings at 6:15pm in the music room.
Wednesday Evening Study Group also kicks off September 14th at 6:15pm, upstairs in the Carlson classroom. We will be reviewing an excellent, thought provoking book, “Right Thinking in a World Gone Wrong”. Books will be provided for all participants.
As we close the deacon nomination phase, we will begin to start a new phase of interviewing deacon nominees. On September 25th, all ballots will be ready, addressed, and handed out in church that morning. The rest of the ballots will be mailed the following day. To vote, you must be a member, 18yrs. or older. Please prayerfully vote on who should be our next deacons for
GBC, and then return the ballot to the green box in the hallway outside the sanctuary.
The new school year is here, which means this is the perfect time to begin purchasing school supplies for Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes. Please buy pencils, pens, journals, paper, scissors, etc, while you can, and do not forget to start praying for the children whose lives these boxes will impact! If you have any questions, or would like more information, please contact Peyton Elkins.
