NOTES ON THIS PRESENTATION - Feb. 2009 This general presentation is designed for a congregation that is considering membership or is a new member and looking for an educational presentation. It can be easily modified to work for different kinds of congregations. It would be best to add some images and slides that are from your state. You should view it in “Notes Page” (click on “View” in the toolbar above and select “Notes Page”) so that you can see the notes that go along with some slides that only have images. You should also view it as a “Slide Show” so you can see the various animations. When you give the presentation, if you use the “Presenter Tools” you can see these notes to tell a story while the viewers only see an image on the screen. This is a good way to present using an interesting image (or video clip!) and avoid boring people with a lot of on-screen text. There are a few slides included after the end of the presentation that I left in for anyone who wants to add them -- a little comedy is always good if you are comfortable with the delivery. You should be able to give this presentation in under 30 minutes. This web link

NOTES ON THIS PRESENTATION - Feb. 2009

This general presentation is designed for a congregation that is considering membership or is a new member and looking for an educational presentation. This web link offers some tips for good Powerpoint Presentations as well as articles on how to give an effective presentation. http://www.onenw.org/toolkit/powerpoint-best-practices/

Interfaith Power and Light

To be faithful stewards of creation by responding to global warming through the promotion of energy

conservation, energy efficiency and renewable energy. Doing our part to solve the problem requires the kind of long-term hope and vision that is so familiar within

our religious traditions.

Forest Fires

In a recent chilling assessment, the World Health Organization (WHO) reported that human-induced changes in the Earth's climate now lead to at least 5 million cases of illness and more than 150,000 deaths every year.

From Science Daily - November 17, 2005

Human Health Impacts

The world's leading atmospheric scientists tell us that a gradual warming of our climate is underway and will continue.  This poses serious risks to our economy and our environment. It poses even

greater risks to many other nations, particularly poorer countries that will be far less able to cope with a changing climate and low-lying

countries where sea level rise will cause significant damage.

What you do unto the least of these…

Change a light bulbIf every household in the U.S. replaced one light bulb with an ENERGY

University of California study found that returning California’s global warming emissions to 1990 levels by 2020, as envisioned

by current state legislation, can boost the annual Gross State Product (GSP) by $74 billion and create 89,000 new jobs by 2020.

…what we are trying to do is not to change light bulbs. We are trying to change people who will change their own light bulbs…We must see in the face of the earth the face of our own children. Then we

will know what to do.
