“We exist to make disciples of Jesus”
TRUTH | CHARACTER | COMMUNITY | MISSION.
November 2015 FBC Family,
We have just a few weeks left in our series
RADICAL | Sermon on the Mount | Matt. 5
If you missed a week, listen to our messages online. http://www.sheltonfbc.org/resources/sermons/
And later this month… We will begin
Matthew 6 | Hide + Seek a look at the secret disciplines that
grow disciples.
Happy Thanksgiving! What are you thankful for?
We all enjoy the blessing of our great God, and sometimes we take them for
granted. This November, we have encouraged our Small Groups to express
a heart of gratitude, and reach out to a family they know who
would be blessed to receive encouragement and a
“Thanksgiving Dinner Basket”.
We also have community families, who through Love INC
[Love In the Name of Christ] have been interviewed and gone
through a relationship building process that allows Love INC
workers to verify their needs, pray with them and give counsel
and support. If YOU, your family or Small Group would like to help provide a
Thanksgiving Dinner Basket for a Love INC sponsored family, visit the
LOVE INC Table in the Family Center on Nov. 08 or 15. Sign up to provide
one or more baskets. Dinner Baskets will need to be brought to FBC for
distribution by Love INC, on Tuesday, November 24, between 3:30 - 5 pm.
A list of suggested food items is available. THANK YOU, for prayerfully considering,
sharing your blessings in this way. Questions? Contact Barb Johnson, 426.3686
our FBC Church Min. Coordinator with Love INC.
FBC Office will be Closed.

to hear are: "Teenagers are the worst" and "Your children are so sweet, wait until they become teenagers!"
God does not abandon us or our children during the ages of 13-19. His grace carried your parenting through the long,
sleepless nights of infancy. His grace carried you through the terrible twos and temper tantrums.
Why do we think His grace ran out when
our kids become teens? The Gospel is powerful enough for dating, driving,
homework,
hormones, and all the ups and downs of our children growing and maturing. Yes, it is hard. So were the long nights and terrible twos.
When (not if) you find yourself struggling to love and parent your teen,
I find this article from Paul Tripp as a breath of fresh air. A renewing reminder of what God has called us to,

Setting a Parental Agenda by Paul Tripp
Let's face it - parenting teenagers is a difficult responsibility. We don't have to deny the reality that as a person passes
from childhood into adulthood, the transition can be tumultuous. However, we should be shocked and saddened by the cultural cynicism toward our teens; they're portrayed
as hormonal creatures that need to be controlled and restrained. This view is wholly unbiblical.
So what is a biblical view? In this article, I want to sug-gest four verbs that can set the agenda for parents who want to model Christ with their teenagers. (read the whole article!!)
