2015 Fall Classic We’ve been very lucky with our past Fall Classic’s with excellent weather and this year again was absolutely perfect. We started off Friday at 12noon with Education with speakers Billy Crow and Derek Settle. Everyone gathered on the Terrace at the beautiful Omni Resort around 5:00pm and enjoyed a beverage, some great appetizers & great fellowship. Around 6:30pm we announced that the 3rd Annual Dwight “Butch” Singo Award would be awarded to Doug Merkel. Tom Brennan then took the mic and did a special Tribute to Ron Hill for his achievements in the Amelia Island area and what he has meant to everyone in the Golf Industry. The huge tub with the traditional Amelia Island Shrimp Boil was again the hit of the evening, with tons of shrimp, corn, potatoes, & sausage, with melted butter and cocktail sauce on the side. We also had a huge carving station with Roast beef and a Potato bar. It was so great to see that a lot of our member brought their wives this year. Hope this continues next year. Saturday Morning started at the beautiful Oak Marsh Golf Club and ended with a great lunch. Thanks to this year’s committee, Jack Harrell III, Nate Maurer and Betty Hooten for a job well done.
