Review of NROC’s ocean planning activities since June 2019 meeting

June 2019 meeting (focus on offshore wind)

• During the meeting, participants identified issues that generally fell within three categories: regulatory process and timeline, cumulative impacts, and data. Those issues are identified on pages 4-7 of the meeting summary.

• Many issues were important takeaways from the meeting or directly relevant for a particular agency or group of agencies

• Specific issues where NROC has taken action:

• Updates to commercial fisheries data on the Northeast Ocean Data Portal with industry input

• Additional resources added to the Northeast Ocean Data Portal to support a better understanding of offshore wind energy projects

• Participation in initial GOM task force meeting and discussions within NROC about opportunities to support the task force process

Funding - Regional Data Sharing Initiative

“Regional ocean partnerships, or their equivalent, to enhance their capacity for sharing and integration of Federal and non-Federal data to support regional coastal, ocean, and Great Lakes management priorities as outlined in Executive Order 13840.”

• Federal FY19 Funding: Partnering with MARCO and RODA to update and improve commercial fisheries data on the NE and MidA Portals

• Federal FY20 Funding: Currently scoping the use of these funds given priorities in work plan and budget needs

• Continued federal support for regional work
