How long does it take to prepare and be certified on each level?

§ The time required preparing for any particular level of the NSE Program is based on the amount of time an individual can allot to study, the amount of experience they possess, and their individual aptitude. Lower levels of the program can be achieved in a fairly short period of time, given one’s situation. Mid to upper level technical levels NSE 4 - 7 require a greater investment in time and resources to attend more formal training, proctored labs, and exams. NSE 8, depending on the amount of knowledge and skill gained through experiential learning, can require many months to prepare. NSE 8 is an expert-level, assessment-only part of the program and is intended only for well-seasoned technical professionals.

    How many seats per session?

§ An unlimited number of partner individuals can participate in the self-paced versions on any training available. There is a limit to the number of seats that partners can reserve in the Instructor Facilitated Labs, i.e., NSE 4 FortiGate l & ll. Partners can only occupy six seats per no fee, facilitated lab.

§ For instructor-led, fee-based training classes there is no capacity limitation up to the maximum number of seats in any given class.

What happens if I register for an instructor-led class, such as a FortiGate l & ll Facilitated Lab and cannot attend?

§ Partner individuals who register for an instructor class or lab and are unable to attend must contact Fortinet Technical Training ([email protected]) before the class or lab begins and request to be moved to another class or lab, or request to be unregistered. Failure to do so may prevent them from registering for, or attending a follow-on class or lab.

Where can I find information on upcoming training courses?

§ Visit https://www.fortinet.com/support-and-training/training/course-schedule.html for a complete list of upcoming classes.

Certification & TranscriptsI passed all the exams for my NSE level. When will I receive my certificate?

§ NSE 1, 2, 3, and 6 processing can take up to 14 days before certificates appear in your transcript.

§ NSE 4, 5, and 7 certifications earned through Pearson VUE can take two to three weeks to appear in your transcript.

How can I view my transcript or download and print my NSE certificate?

§ To view your transcript or print certificates:

    1. Log into the Learning Center account via the Partner Portal

    2. Go to “Catalog and Coursework”

    3. Go to “My Transcript”

    4. Find and click on the preferred certificate

    5. You will then see the available logo and have the option to print a certificate

Certification RenewalHow long are my NSE certificates valid?

§ All NSE certifications expire after two years.

How do I renew my certificates?

§ You must take the current exam before your certificate expires to maintain your NSE level.

Do I have to re-take courses to renew my certificates?

§ Courseware is highly recommended but is not a pre-requisite for NSE exams.

FortiOS has been upgraded since I took my courses. Can I take the older NSE exam?

§ NSE exams are only available for the current versions of Fortinet products. You must take the current exam to qualify or re-certify.

Do I have to renew each certificate or will lower levels auto-renew as I move up?

§ Each NSE level is independent and must be renewed every two years. Renewing a higher level does not reset the date of the lower level certificate. For example, you receive NSE 4 in January 2015. You then earn NSE 7 in November. You must renew NSE 4 before February 2017 to maintain your NSE 4 standing.

Partner Compliance How do I obtain a list of employees in my organization that hold certifications and at what levels?

For questions about individual or company training current standing, email [email protected] with subject line: “NSE training standing.”

How long do we have to transition to NSE?

    § NSE 1 - 4: December 31, 2015

    § NSE 5 - 7: May 31, 2016

    § NSE 8: December 31, 2016

    mailto:training%40fortinet.com?subject=https://www.fortinet.com/support-and-training/training/course-schedule.htmlhttps://www.fortinet.com/support-and-training/training/course-schedule.htmlmailto:partners%40fortinet.com?subject=

  • Does the new NSE 4 certification replace the FCNSA and FCNSP certifications?

§ Yes. The NSE 4 certification combines both previous FortiGate exams into a single exam.

What is the equivalence between the old FCNSA/FCNSP and the NSE Program?

§ FCNSA and FCNSP were two separate exams under the previous Fortinet Certification Program. Under the new NSE Program, those exams have been updated and combined into a single exam, NSE 4: Fortinet Network Security Professional.

What happens to my existing FCNSP certifications?

§ FCNSP v4 certificates are no longer valid for NSE 4 standing.

§ On December 31, 2016, FCNSP v5 will no longer be valid for NSE 4 standing. You should renew by taking the current NSE 4 exam before your FCNSP-based NSE 4 standing expires.

How does ERC Code qualification work with the NSE program?

In 2015, engineers working for Platinum, Gold, and Silver partners can obtain an ERC Code if they are certified NSE 4 AND if their company is compliant with their partner level NSE 4 requirements. In the future, it will be necessary for the company to be compliant with all NSE 1-8 partner level certification requirements in order for the NSE 4 engineer to qualify for an ERC code.

Selling Fortinet CertificationsWhat is the process for end-customers to follow the training? Can a customer purchase courses?

§ Customers do not participate in NSE 2-3, but may use NSE 1 if they wish. NSE 4 is the entry point for end-user/customers. If a customer wishes to purchase courses, training SKUs are available for resellers to quote.

Additional Resources and Contact InformationWhat other NSE resources are available?

§ Visit fortinet.com (https://www.fortinet.com/support-and-training/training/courses.html) for more information. Further information can be found on the Partner Portal under the training tab.

§ You can contact the NSE Administrator at [email protected] (for course-related information) or [email protected] (for training and course transcript questions).

    § Please email [email protected].
