O R D E R

On July 30, 1999, Bracken County Water District (“Bracken County”) applied for

approval to adjust its rates pursuant to the purchased water adjustment procedure.

KRS 278.015 and 807 KAR 5068.

The Commission, having reviewed the record and being sufficiently advised,

finds that:

1. Bracken County purchases its water from Augusta Regional Water

Treatment Plant (“Augusta”).

2. Augusta increased the wholesale water rate charged to Bracken County

from $1.09 per 1,000 gallons to $1.21 per 1,000 gallons purchased, effective August 1,

1999.

3. During the 12 months ending June 30, 1999, Bracken County purchased a

total of 162,815,400 gallons of water and sold 151,703,000 gallons.

4. The increase in the cost of purchased water will be $19,537.85, resulting

in a purchased water adjustment of $0.13 per 1,000 gallons of water. Based on a

monthly usage of 5,000 gallons, the average bill of a Bracken County customer would

increase $0.65 from $1 7.75 to $1 8.40 or 3.66 percent.

5. The tariff provided by Bracken County is correct and should be approved.

6. The purchased water adjustment of $0.13 per 1,000 gallons and the rates

in Appendix A, attached hereto and incorporated herein, are fair, just, and reasonable

and should be approved.

IT IS THEREFORE ORDERED that:

1. The purchased water adjustment of $0.1 3 per 1,000 gallons and the rates

in Appendix A are approved for services rendered on and after August 1 , 1999.

The tariff submitted by Bracken County is hereby approved as filed.

Within 20 days from the effective date of this Order, Bracken County shall

file a copy of the notice to its customers and verification that such notice has been

given.
