Tocountintheratiosatlevel3,staffholdinganEarlyYearsEducatorqualificationMUSTalsohaveachievedGCSEsinEnglishandmathsatgradeCorabove.

ThefollowingqualificationshavebeenagreedasacceptableequivalenciestoGCSEsinEnglishandMathsatGradeCorabove:

• UKrecognisedpredecessorqualifications:‘O’levelA–CorCSEGrade1• RecognisedScottish,NorthernIrishandWelshequivalents• ASandA/2levels• AccreditedGCSEswhichcounttowardstheEnglishBaccalaureate• InternationalqualificationsdefinedbyUKNARICasmeetingGCSEA*-C.

Ifyouholdalevel3earlyyearseducatorqualificationbutdonothaveaGCSEinEnglishandmathsatGradeCorabove,youcanbecountedwithinthestafftochildratiosatlevel2only.

TherequirementforEarlyYearsEducatorqualificationsandGCSEsinEnglishandmathswillnotbeappliedretrospectively.StaffandlearnerswhoholdorareworkingtowardsexistingfullandrelevantqualificationswillstillbeabletopracticeandwillnotneedGCSEsinEnglishandmathsatGradeCorabove.
