Local On-site Support

• Have been providing this for a few years now.

• This support has evolved since its inception

• When public safety is at risk or for large events

• NWS Jackson can send a meteorologist to the location to support an operation

• This service is free to the county that requests the support

(New) Statewide LocalOn-site Support• MEMA requested this type of support be available

statewide for major incidents.

MEMA area coordinator will discuss the need for onsite support with local officials.

Initial request comes through MEMA to WFO Jackson.

Once the request is made to NWS Jackson, the MIC or WCM will work to arrange the necessary support.

If the incident is not in the JAN CWA, they will contact the MIC/WCM of the responsible office to determine how the event will be supported.

Local On-site Support

• If there are any upcoming exercises or events, we would like to participate in as long as: It is weather sensitiveWe have the staffing to support (most of

the time we should)

• Please ask for onsite support if you feel the incident could use onsite weather information.
