Departure Preparation Required items in hand-carry:
1 THICK Winter Jacket
1 Riverside Wind Breaker (for school programme and to be worn overwinter jacket)
One THICK woollen scarf and cap
One pair of gloves
One pair of spare socks
Lip gloss / throat candy / lozenges
*Toiletries (in 8 cm by 8 cmziplog bag. Liquids not to exceed 100ml)
*Please pack your empty water bottle into your check-in luggage
Light snack will be provided on plane
Tidbits and instant noodles are to be kept in plastic bags and packedinto check-in luggage. You MUST declare upon arrival and beprepared that they will be thrown away
Muslim students, please prepare your own set of utensils if necessary

If unable to contact teachers, request to be sent to the nearest clinic or hospital and continue to contact your
teachers
During sightseeing:
If injured or unwell, inform your group leader / first-aider/teacher immediately
If lost, look for the information counter or landmark as given by teacher and wait there
Do not walk alone at all times. Stay close to the group and inform your teacher & group leader if you need to visitthe toilet. Be alert always

General Rules
1. Follow the instructions and participate in all activities stipulated for
students. Do not pursue your own itinerary
2. Do not purchase items banned in Singapore eg: chewing gum orpornographic materials
3. Monitor your expenses wisely and do not borrow from your home-staybuddy or school-mates
4. Be friendly, courteous at all times but wary of strangers. Do not followstrangers and leave your group without permission
5. Check that it is appropriate to take photographs
6. Keep your rooms neat and tidy at all times
7. Do not swap rooms or bunk with other students without informing yourteachers
8. Before using any facilities or amenities, check with the hostel personnelif it is chargeable
9. Do not leave your home-stay residence or the student hostel on yourown and without informing anyone

Winter Climate
Auckland is generally cold during winter (June toAugust) at the temperatures ranging between9 - 14 C
As the weather is very dry, you are advised to bring
your lip gloss/hand moisturizer and apply whennecessary
Pack warm winter garments and layer yourclothings
Have your winter jacket, sweater with you at alltimes

Do note that the electrical outlet in New Zealand is
different from Singapore
The outlet uses 3 pins more commonly and some 2pins
Electricity is supplied at a minimum voltage of 230 -240V

Gift Giving Etiquette
If invited to a New Zealanders house, bring a small gift such assouvenir or a book about your home country to the hosts
Gifts should not be nicely wrapped up Please also present the host family with a copy of the schools
newsletter, marketing brochure and a Thank You card
Ask the hosts if Gifts received can be opened on the spot.Otherwise, keep it without opening
Dining Etiquette
Wait to be told where to sit
Meals are often served family-style
Keep your elbows off the table and your hands above thetable when eating
Offer to clear/wash the dishes/clean up for the host family
