PROBLEMS With this Material

• Ingest pdf’s onto a platform that meets industry standards

optimal scalability, naviation, usability and discovery (initially this platform will need to be the Garcia Cambeiro platform licensed from ebrary with a goal to move the content to HathiTrust)

• OwnershipSecure permissions from the publisher to grant LC, Garcia Cambeiro,

and Hathitrust archiving rights and participating libraries perpetual access rights

What can we do?

• Gather 1000 Argentine Open Access scholarly monographs

• Secure the necessary Permissions from the publisher

• Ingest the selected pdf’s and establish a long term URL. (the ideal one is HathiTrust)

• Unify pdf standard, navigation, usability and discovery

• Unify Discovery, using the library OPAC (MARC RDA Records)

• 1000 high quality scholarly monographs. Selected By García Cambeiro qualified staff and identified Advisory Group of Librarians

• Certainty that the existing OA monogragph is provided with long term URL

• Libraries working together for the benefit of the whole community

• Epreferred if the library wants• MARC (RDA) records for each title

What does each library receive?

A. LONGSTANDING RELATIONSHIP WITH SCHOLARY PUBLISHERS.

B. GET THE PERMISSION FOR EVENTUAL DEPOSIT WITH HATHITRUST.

C. PRESERVATION OF THE PDF an ability to address preservation concerns through an LC dark archive by leveraging a well-established relationship with the Library of Congress

D. PROVIDES OPTIMAL SCALABILITY, NAVIGATION, USABILITY AND DISCOVERY. Initially this platform will need to be the García Cambeiro platform licensed from ebrary with a goal to move the content to HathiTrust.
