For insurance purposes, nonresidents using our paths or our park facilities must be accompanied by a resident of Oakwood East or they will be cited by Midwest City for a "trespassing" violation. Permission alone is no longer sufficient. Annual Adjourned Meeting: Our Association’s Annual Adjourned Meeting was held January 19, 2006 and many items were discussed. The budget was approved, and Sam Yearby and Don Boedeker were reelected as Directors for another 3 years. Months earlier the 10 plus sets of covenants and bylaws were consolidated into one set for all of Oakwood East. Our attorney reviewed their contents and made the needed adjustments. 50 copies of these were run off for attendees to have their own copy to examine while being discussed. Very few changes were actually made. After an item by item review and discussion, a motion was made and passed to accept these covenants and bylaws. Consequently, they were filed with Oklahoma County at the courthouse and are now in effect. Every household will receive a copy of these amended documents with this newsletter. Annual Assessments Billing Process Reminder: (1) In December, 1530 days before the annual adjourned meeting, assessments and notice of the annual meeting are mailed out; (2) March 15th is the due date to have your assessments paid; (3) April 1st, if your assessment has not been paid there is an interest charge of 10% of the assessment; (4) May 1st, a flat fee of $25.00 will be added; (5) June 1st, if still unpaid, a lien will be put on your property, and the cost of adding and removing such lien is added to your assessment; (6) November 1st, there will be an additional interest charge of 10% per annum on the outstanding balance, and so on progressively. And (7) November 15th, delinquent accounts are turned over to our attorney for collection. His fees will be added to the unpaid bill. Newsletters: You should begetting your newslettersquarterly – by the first week ofJanuary, April, July andOctober.

Web Site: We now have a website up and running. Check outwww.oakwoodeast.org. The bylaws and covenants, and various community linksare now posted. Linda Coates is CoWeb Master with our Director Robert Stone. Weappreciate the job both are doing, and especially all the time Linda put in to initiallyestablish the site.

A "Discussion Board" is included, but content will be reviewed prior to posting.

Special Projects: Hopefully you’ve noticed the cement spur linking Lakeside to theasphalt path for easier access for wheel chairs, baby strollers, etc. A much neededproject for this summer is to replace the sheds. These sheds contain high voltageelectrical equipment for the irrigation system, ponds, and fountains, and aredeteriorating.

Director Don Boedeker:

Don was honored at our Jan.19th meeting for his dedicated service as an OEHADirector for the past six years! He is Mr. Dependable and a valuable asset to ourcommunity. He also delivered newsletters to 20 Block Capt. quarterly for the past sixyears. Don’s associates refer to him as the man with the manners and voice of a"Southern Gentleman."

Neighborhood Fire Hydrants: Grace visited the Midwest City Fire Chief RandyOlsen about us painting our faded fire hydrants. He advised that was not allowed, but they now have approval and funds to paint the fire hydrants in Midwest City.Based on our complaint, Oakwood East would be next on the list. They’ve painted afew hydrants bright red in Royale.

Parental Supervision: The Board has received numerous concerns andcomplaints about children playing at the ponds/playground with no adultsupervision. This is distressing news to us, and we feel compelled to bring this toyour attention. Most of the residents know there are snakes that live in and close tothe water. We suspect some of these could be poisonous. The soft dirt/mire couldmake it difficult to escape if such a confrontation occurs. There are inherent dangersaround water, playground equipment, and just running and playing for that matter. This is increased considerably where there is no supervision. We want our childrento enjoy these areas, but safety must be foremost. There was one incident reported at

the annual meeting about a child falling through the ice and other children finally able to pull the child out.Another incident was children playing on the ice and when asked to come off, more children joined them and theresident concerned with their safety had to call the police. There have been other instances of children in dangeroussituations without help nearby. Signs are posted requiring adult or parental supervision. The basketball hoop isbeing stored and probably won’t be put up this summer due to the fighting and bad conduct at the basketball goal.Being called on the phone at 10:30 at night by the police and residents about the problem is not one we’re anxiousto resume in the near future.
